It reminds me of a upper-class, Redwall Abbey badger. I love it. Congrats on the Daily Deviation award. It was well deserved.

I'm so essentially new to deviantART that I had no idea about getting a "Daily Deviation"... In fact I'm not even sure now what that really means...heh... All I know is that I freaked out when I happened to visit today and discovered that I suddenly have over 600 comments... i'm not even sure what to do now... Where does it say that I got such a thing? I can't seem to find it anywhere...
Thanks so much for the commentary and for the congrats... I'm so glad you enjoyed the image!

Thanks! I painted it using Corel Painter and my pressure-sensitive Cintique monitor,....truly and amazing tool... It's like painting for real but without the mess!

His character's the brain-child of another Deviant here, called Mulefoot, and is part of his work called SLOP.. This character was just too interesting of a creation NOT to do a fun piece of art for...
Thanks!!

I remember my neighbors went up to the lake to go hunting with their hounds. The first and second hound were both killed by badgers but that was because the animals were cooped and high strung so when they got loose... things went out of hand. The texture of haunting luminosity brings back the old chills I had of awe and fear when imagining a burrowing animal ripping apart to full grown dogs to death. And the fur is deliciously rich.

Nimrond In reply to ViciousChildHoku [2007-12-09 00:36:52 +0000 UTC]
Oooohhhhh yeah... Badgers can be realllllly vicious when they need to.... And I guess being cornered by a couple of dogs is a pretty "need to" situation... Glad you enjoyed!

This is one of the most refreshing anthro pieces I've seen in a while. The attitude, the tone, the fine attention to detail and texture, and the excellent understanding of how powerful lighting can be, all help this to be an engaging image. The eyes are so haunting, and that slight gesture of the hand is so damn sinister. Wonderful piece!
