Do you use yarn, if so what brand and fiber content is it. Very lovely work

I use a lot of different types of yarn and thread. This on is thicker cotton thread (Schachenmeyer Catania), but I also use thin crochet cotton thread and waxed polyester yarn from Brazil.

Is it the Catania Grande or just the Catania. What brand and weight is the thin cotton, do you use the thinner one for bracelets? Sorry for asking so many questions. Thankyou for your help

Without Grande, just Catania. The thin cotton is weight 10, several different brands, all work. The thinner one is usually for bracelets, Catania for pouchs and bags and the waxed polyester thread for necklaces with stones.

You are great! That's a really big project, I don't think I would have the courage to start this!
Congrats!

Could you do this on a really big stick, with really thick yarn, and make a big rug? Is there a link to the kit, or to the instructions... I am so curious... is this sort of like braiding? Is it easy?

Sorry for all the questions!

nimuae In reply to mertonparrish [2010-07-02 11:21:04 +0000 UTC]

What do you mean with a kit?
You could of course make a real big one, but you would need thick yarn and a lot of strings and maybe years to knot, but it would be possible.
The pattern of my one here is this: >Pattern< - the technic is still the same you tie friendship bracelets: >Technical instructions<

Sometimes weaving or needlework comes as a kit, a ready made project, with everything one needs in a box with instructions. Ty for the link. It looks a little complicated, though I am sure, once you know what you are doing it is easy!

nimuae In reply to mertonparrish [2010-07-02 15:34:30 +0000 UTC]

Ah ok, I' ve never used kits like that, I usually create my own projects.
And you're right, it looks a bit complicated, but with some practice it is easier

I seldom use kits either, and like to use my own drawings for needlework, and create my designs as I go for knitting or weaving... generally if there is a pattern, with mathematical precision, that takes away the relaxation for me... though I did get some little lap looms which came as kits, and I was able to use all the stuff in them, and just kinda do what I wanted with them, as I saw fit. Again, neat project, and ty for the info.

Yeah, that would maybe the same way I would use material out of a kit
Thanks again
