"Well, well, well," Kuro says darkly, "What do we have here?"

You tense as Joan takes a hesitant step back, you can feel the fear radiating off of her and you are pretty sure Kuro can too. This is exactly why you told her to stick close to you. Your (E/C) eyes narrow in disdain as Kuro tries to piece together what in the world is happening here. It takes him a second to make the connection between you and Joan.

"This is your first player isn't it," he questions.

You don't answer instead you push Joan behind you protectively, and pull out your knife from it's hiding spot under your dress. Joan holds tight to the back of the (F/C) dress as you and Kuro have a stare down.

That lasts for a good thirty seconds before you growl, "So what if she is?"

"I was right then. This... Thing..." He makes a gesture towards Joan, "Is in fact your first player. How appropriate. She looks alike a weak piece of garbage... If you want her to stay alive I'd suggest you get her back home. I don;t know how, and I don't care if you do or not... But it's highly dangerous to have a first player in our world (F/N). Find someone to send her back."

Kuro turns and walks away from you and Joan without another word. You are extreamly confused, not at all expecting him to have just left like that. Behind you Joan is making some very confused noises herself also unsure of what to make of that encounter.

"Umm... Well... That was weird," Joan says quietly after she has managed to compose herself.

"You're telling me," I replied as I shake off my utter surprise at the fact that Kuro didn't do something that would be dangerous to Joan or me.

"Do you think we should listen to him," Joan asks.

You think about all the people you know in this world, you think about all the terrible things they have done and how much they seemed to enjoy doing it, you think about your own abusive mother and step-father, and you think about Joan. Joan who is so sweet and kind and shy and is always there when you need someone to talk to, Joan who has never once done anything to hurt you or asked anything in exchange for her friendship. You think about how deadly this world is and how you just know it would kill her sooner or later. In the end you come to the dissension you knew you would have to come to. Joan could not stay in this world with you, it was too dangerous, you were too dangerous, and Joan had to be kept safe.

"We should," you tell her, (S/T) hand grabbing her pale hand, "My world is dangerous, the people here are cruel, the countries are cruel and insane, this isn't a world for someone like you. I grew up in this insane world, I'm just as insane and murderous as the rest of them. You aren't safe here, not even with me."

Joan hangs her head sadly, as if she too knew this would be the way things had to be.

"I was afraid you would say something like that... So how in the world are we getting me back home...?"

"Don't worry, I have a.. Cousin... That can take care of that."
