Part Two --> click hereI wanted very badly to break out of whatever comicking phobias that've been crushing me since birth, so I decided to try a modified version of Scott McCloud's 24 hour comic challenge.
Overall, it was quite an experience. The most difficult aspect for me was forgiving my ugly panels enough to move forward - I averaged about 1.5 hours per page, which of course means I "failed" to make the 12 hour mark, but I decided to continue after my time was up because I couldn't stand the idea of leaving yet another comic unfinished. I learned a lot about my process, and upon completion of this project I realized it really could be done. Anybody can draw comics, even me. I feel like I've broken a curse or something.
Seriously, if you haven't already, try doing it yourself. It's always good to push your limits as an artist every once and again, and you might even get to know yourself a little better. And when you're not freaking out about the deadline, it's just plain fun.
PLEASE TELL ME IF THIS FILE IS TOO DAMN LARGE. I have a hard time gauging stuff like that.

I forgot I ran into this and then I tried to fave it again, accidentally unfaving it, so I ended up having to fave it twice. That's how nice this comic is! I really admire that you made something this creative and funny in such a short timespan.
(I want to try but I'm too afraid I won't come up with a plot and mess up.)

1.5 hours per page? Whoa. When I did mine it was more like 15 minutes to an hour per page (you can see the weakness of quality)!
The consistancy and cuteness of your artwork makes the one I did look amateurish in comparison! XD

I know it's wierd, but I read this one first, but commented on the second part first... Anywho, this first half wasn't as funny as the second half, but it does have that awesome wierd factor that I 'o so love ^^ You just got to love when the crack "flinches", making mr. kitty jump up in terror... The part when "Mr. Man" tells off the eye and says he'll be forgiven one day was priceless as well ^^ You can't forget the last panel though... Poor Mittens...

I met Scott McCloud a few weeks ago, he was at my local art museum, and he taught us how to COMIC. it was pretty rad. So N'ways, when i was reading this it sort of made me think of him, and i wasn't all too surprised to see his name in your description

i did the 24 hour comic once
i only got about 6 pages and i only made it about 20 hours
but it was really fun

No no no! The whole point is that you do it BECAUSE you think you can't handle it. I did the same thing for years - tell myself I'm not ready to do my own comics, that I still needed practice (etc). That mentality got me nowhere. Drawing comics is the best way to learn how to draw comics, and this challenge is really useful because a) it's only one day, so you can't fuss over it and b) you can see how much you're truly capable of if you push yourself (and if you really dedicate yourself for those 12 hours, I guarantee you will be pleased with the results).
In short, you should try it as soon as you have the time. And then send me the link when you're done so I can read it!
