Description
The day I got plunged in that other world...and when I met him.-Zoom in for best quality-
It's been 3 years since I started this project. My how time flies. I began this story during my last year of high school, and now I'm about to enter my 3rd year of university. Boy did I get lazy those last two years... . But I decided to make a little art now that it's reached the 3 year mark. This is from the first chapter, when our main protagonist got plunged into the digital world and found the dragon who'd change his life (both in good ways and in bad...)
So what happens next? Well, I hopefully plan to finish writing this story (hoping for end of year, but that's probably gonna be too soon. Maybe early 2016 is more expected.). Once I finish, I do plan to actually rewrite certain parts of the story that I now think don't hold up too well in hopes to make it better flow. (The beginning will be one of those parts just to better introduce the story).
I also remade the logo for this story that I'll change after its wrapped up. After that, who knows...I still have many ideas surrounding the events of this story, and I do want to draw certain other scenes. But we'll cross that bridge after we finish the story. (Almost at the climax, so that's at least good progress!)
As for this picture. It was a lot more difficult than I first thought. I finished it before the previous three deviations, and started to use gradients in this project first before using that on the other drawings. Also, Illustrator is a lot harder to make backgrounds with than Photoshop. Everything in Illustrator must be closed in order to be painted in, and it's effects for blending don't work as well as Photoshops. so it was definitely an experiment and I'd really appreciate feedback.
But that's all for now. I'm not gonna lie. I'm still a bit ashamed of myself that this story is still ongoing.

This is a good drawing of the moment Carlos first met Dorbickmon.
I can see the progress of your drawing since the first one you made about Dorbickmon and the digimons.
As for you story, I'll read it until the end and I don't mind waiting. (Obviously, I want it finishing faster, but that's selfish of me).
Take your time. I know you are going to finish the story, so I'm not worried about it.

that moment when dorbickmon 'accidently' saved carlos
if using illustrator is hard why not use photoshop instead?

...and then tried to kill him by letting him fall into a river, not knowing he couldn't swim xD
I did (My recent pokemon picture shows an attempt with it). But I suck at blending and the like. I really need help for that in specific.

Haha, neat. I know it's not explicitly Tamers-related, but I like the connection.
I think the two of them look all right with the gradients, but Illustrator might not be the best program for the backgrounds. The black lines and sharp-edge shading are a bit distracting and tend to flatten the scene, rather than provide a sense of depth. The art style of Digimon itself is often more painterly backgrounds, too, so as better to keep the attention on the characters.
And don't worry about the story taking 3+ years. Some ideas just take time. I'm already over 6 years into mine...

...I think my white knight has just arrived to save me from the endless drought of no constructive feedback xD
Was I referencing Tamers? I wasn't trying to...I need to rewatch that series...
Thank you for the advice. I did try to use a reference for dragon land, but Illustrator does not cooperate. I tried Photoshop as well (my recent pokemon picture used texture overlays for the backgrounds), but then came my lack of knowing how to do backgrounds. And I can't get blending down for the life of me...

Sure.
Megidramon makes a brief cameo in Tamers, but it's during an especially poignant moment.
I'm just looking at some of your painted backgrounds; I think you have a decent grasp on blending. The key is having hues and values that best suit the lighting. So if it's outdoors in the daylight you don't want things to be too dark, unless it's in cast shadow, and instead of just pain green for a grassy hill, you can give it a mild yellow tint. Also as backgrounds recede further into the back, they'll fade more and more (if it's daylight, they'll start to fade into a light bluish gray). Blending is definitely a tricky skill to get down and it requires a lot of tweaking in Photoshop, but all the settings are there to play with.

*facepalm* ....oh god, I thought you were talking about the title, not the giant reference there staring me in the face. I feel so silly right now...
Thank you for your words of wisdom. I'll practice a bit more to hopefully get things somewhat down...
