    He had no time to prepare or to even send a quick prayer. He knew that she wouldn't wait for him. Taking hold of her by her saddle strap, he swung up and onto her back in one motion. Just like they practiced. Arena shifted under him, like water, before unfurling her wings halfway in preparation for the leap.

    Just then, the ground lurched from underneath him, stealing away his breath. The cliff edge had been closer than he expected. A flash of white feathers. The deep blue sky. The sun, just over the horizon, like a great eye. And then-

    There was complete silence. Even the roar of the rapids below seemed to have faded away. Only his and Arena’s heartbeats seemed to be the only sounds, beating in unison.

    As unexpectedly as it had come, the moment was gone. The sky tilted, and now they were staring straight down the deep belly of the earth. The wind, as if indignant of having given up that one moment of silence, returned in full blast. It roared in their ears as they plummeted in a steep descent, threatening to toss them into the rock wall that rushed past them in a blur. But they were far from afraid.
        The race had only just begun.

So yeess my very first art of my stryx Arena ! *u* Drew this two weeks ago even before my design was approved haha...(also I need to find a name and ref sheet for my trainer...can't keep calling him "he" forever xD)
