QuQ I'm sorry everyone for taking so long with your art works, but you know that feeling you get? When you just have to put down an idea down or it will disappear forever? Well I just couldn't let this get away~I was recently inspired by the artist Pascal Campion who does the cutest and most heart-warming almost minimalist paintings such as this one:www.deviantart.com/art/Tough-a⦠and www.deviantart.com/art/Tough-a⦠he's on DA here: pascalcampion.deviantart.com/ so go and check him out! This is my character Crystal and the surrounding environment is the place of origin of the ancient crystal that she holds in her soul now. I've always been meaning to draw this place but never found the right way to put it down. This is the main cave where Crystal was brought by Amelia to final connect to her little descendant after she escaped the Tribe of Shadows and found the Shaman of the Great Mountains who took over her training.

oh yeah, and Pascal's stuff has the style that reminds me a lot of what some animators draw like---my friend is starting to get into that "flattish" style too. It's very fun to look at.

well in this case i've seen his artworks on DA but never really looked at his DA name (cause i'm a derp) so when I found an art book that reminded me of this style in a book store I fell in love with it.Β
I started out by just looking at the drawings and seeing what made them so great. I noticed that the colour combinations and hues, coupled with sweet ideas and simple strokes made the pictures what they were. But that wasn't enough for me. I've been working on improving my colours and fell in love with certain brushes so practice with those was necessary too. Poses and lighting as well as dimension I pretty much used the skills I got from studying clouds and one of my favorite artist's (griffsnuff) works. And so on and so forth until I finally had this idea and thought of the best way to put it down. (mind you that even while working like this I fix other things that i need to work on too)
It works for other artworks and experimentations too. But with each there is something different that I need to focus on.

I really like this style too, but I still like to paint with more detail---I love Firefeather's works (on dA)
I really want to paint like her. but I love this style as well. So I'm torn between trying to develop either kind of style lol
We'll see. I guess I 'll alternate between the two perhaps. ^^
I figure, once you can paint more detail and stuff like FireFeathers, it'll be easier to
draw with more simplicity and strokes because you practice paint strokes all the time with detail work? Idk.
