Giichi along with the bat clan we’re not always the brutal underground gang / ninja clan you see. That part take in human trafficking, drugs, prostitution, assassination, black mail etc.

they were once Shinobi that protected people from Yokai and monsters the same way the Wolf, dragon and snake clans do.
but One event changed Giichi forever which than led to the drastic change of the Bat clan. Some of the bat clan stood loyal to Giichi as leader, but others were loyal to the clans old ways. disagreements on how Giichi was bastardizing their once great ninja clan turning it into a underground gang that worked with other criminals. This caused a fracture in the clan which led to branchs breaking away from the bat clan, but this new bad reputation attracted others to join andthat took up the space from those that abandoned Giichi. Suika and Ichigo being some of those that found a new home in the batclan.

Ibuki and Kogoro are from some of the branches that stay loyal to their leader regardless where he led their clan. Even if some may disagree with his choices he is still the son of the main branch and they will follow him till the end.

From the death of his family at a young age Giichi was never taught the special abilities that made his family the leaders of the bat clan. Because of this Giichi knew he had to make up for it by being stronger , faster and much more skilled in fighting than those with their ninja abilities. And with all his years of training his body and mind he was able to do just that. He take much pride in his own physical abilities to wipe out Yokai on his own with no powers, when others would have relied on their special abilities to get the upper hand in a fight.
