Description HOLY CRAP TRACING HELPS SO MUCH. <3

Now before you all jump on me saying "OMG U ART THEIF THIS ISNT ART U NED TO GO GET SUM TALENT!!1!", this is not traced. I drew this ALL BY MYSELF. But before hand I traced over a couple of screenshots to get the hang of how to draw his impossible blue head. AND IT WORKED! Man I need to trace more.

;D But ONLY for practice. I don't save or post any tracings. Brilliant practice though, BRILLIANT.

Ah this looks ten times better. YAY. I HAVE DONE HIM some JUSTICE!

Hehe, I've only recently tried that same trick in my own artwork. The ONLY reason I’m drawing, period, is so I can make sprites for a video game myself instead of paying someone else to make them. While tracing the art of other people and passing them off as your own is plagiarism, tracing other people's artwork to intimately study every detail of what they did and how they did it can help you get the proportions and lines right.

Proportions and lines are /very/ important for any half decent picture. As long as your studying what the good artists are doing and not talentless hacks (*cough* like myself*cough*) and draw it enough times, eventually you won't have to trace.

Yup, I'm hoping to get to that point! I mean, looking at a step by step process of how to draw is helpful, but personally, I think tracing is equally maybe even more helpful. Once you get the way lines flow in your head/hand/whateverhahaha, everything turns out WAY better. Along with porportions, as you said. Which I've found myself slacking in lately, so I need to kick myself back into the right gear.

And I pretty much summarized everything you said up there. AKA, I agree with everything you said, haha.
