It was the end, they knew. it was the end the day the War Turtles shattered the last wall, and Bastion, the last free country, was swallowed up by the waves. every truce made, every peace conference, was thrown to the waves, and the people, unknowing, defenseless, either fell or drowned in their beds, many never having had a chance to fight. But then, who can stave off the seas?

Great piece, man. For some reason, this reminded me of the destroyers entering the Earth's atmosphere in Independence Day, where the people finally see a space-ship through the wall of blazing inferno... Great work!

This is so beautiful. I love the colors.The detail on teh toroise's shell is awesome.This is so surreal...yet it scares me for some reason.I don't know it just slighty creeps me out..still amazing though!

THat is positively magnificent! The elements are put together extremely well and there can be many interpretations to this. First of all, the gigantic turtle. In many Native American creation stories, the world and all of its creatures live on the back of a giant turtle. The volcanos on yours suggest a hostile or abused "Mother Earth Turtle." The fact that the beast is swooping down upon a human civilization could represent the Earth's anger and vengeance at being tormented and abused for countless eons. Finally, there are the people on the hills waving the white flags. Only when their own existence is threatened will mankind bend to the will of nature, though by the looks of things here, mercy won't be coming to them.

The line "Surrender to the sea" has occasionally been over used. But this image deserves a high rank with imagery that belongs to the literal image and metaphor of the phrase. Or at least that's what came into my mind first.

This is impresive, I really like the details like the birds flying away and the people surrendering by waving white flags. I can really sence the overwhelming force of that turtle. It's great I love it.
