That is sooooo cool. I wa samazed by it. It is so surreal and random. I love the randomness in it, but in this particular painting it all flows together perfectly. I love the choice of colors and how they are blended so well together. The details are also so exactly precise

"see the turtle of enormous girth ..." heh this is prolly what the Guardian Turtle looked like in The Dark Tower..
anyways, i love this. The detail is amazing, plus it reminds me of my favourite book series, 'The Dark Tower' by S. King. The book mentioned a giant cyborg turtle, and the volcanos kinda made me think of. Awesome idea, absolutely gorgeous image

The part about this painting that impresses me the most is the massiveness of the turtle and the waves. It reminds me of dreams I have sometimes where I'm caught in huge waves as tall as skyscrapers.

a giant turtle with volcanoes... make it greater by 100, replace volcanoes by meteor impacts, add 4 elephants on it and a plate on them (with sea, continents, ...) and you have a discworld. (I know, my mind's tortuous...

Wooooow! Im blasted away by the number of comments here! Didnt expect such a respond at all... huh! thats a shock! ... ok... so... THANK U ALL for ur kind words, ur time, for every favorite and new friend I've got! I wish I had the time to reply to every single post of u, but Im so so busy with my work, that just some quick answers, hopefuly to answer to as many ppl as I can at the same time.
This piece was created for fun, like I said in the pic description. No extra story behind it at the begining, just a vision in my head, of something epic, grand, very emotional. Than I just gone with the flow, started from a scratch in Photoshop7 and with my Wacom Intuos3 A4 graphic tablet, being curious what will came out, if I really can catch that moment that I had a picture in front of my eyes, in my mind. Thru the process pic was slightly changed from my first idea, but for the better I think.
Im not sure if anything really inspired me for that piece, I never read or see Neverending story, I remember Discworld but wasnt thinking about it at that particular moment.. Maybe I was influanced by many already known stories, movies, pictures, but all subconsciously.... u all know how it is
And yea... the turtle doesnt see those ppl downthere, it doesnt even care. Turtle is just a huge moving transporting island, for other civilisations to conquer planets. And those shark fins on the top of that huge wave, r acctually mechanical ships.. but while those r all sea civilisations, they have their ships designed in that style

wow, that looks amazing. You've managed a quite spectacular blend of different images from the water and mist, to the earth and trees. I espicially like the little details that conotate deail on the head of the beast.
Could you elaborate to more on the meaing of the picture? I remember hearing long ago about a ledgend of a moving island that was actually planted on the back of a turtle/tortoise. The ashy lava field on his back seems similar.
All in all, amazing work.
