"I need to get myself back into a Kingdom Hearts drawing mood... I know what I'll draw! A MOFOIN' AUTOBOT!!"
I've been in a HUGE Transformers hype as of lately (more than usual, at least.) Been watching the original series and movie a lot, I listen to the ending credits theme to the movie at least a dozen times a day ("Something evil's watching over yooouuu
Comin' from the sky above and there's nothing you can doooo!!!")
Hell, I finally gave in and bought the super awesome $80 20th Anniversary movie edition Optimus Prime. Oooh, man. Soo awesome.
Anyway.... after all this, I wanted to do more. So, I made my own! This is my Autobot.... that.... doesn't have a name yet.
Any suggestions? I thought Rust sounded pretty cool. I imagine he'd probably just end up as cannon fodder anyway. Tremble at his unoriginal alternate mode! His vehicle mode is also totally my own car (an '89 Pontiac Grandam), complete with busted front grill, dents, and other non-cool automotive stuff. At least he'll have that full-body sheet metal instead of fiberglass. Diecast, baby! Hahah. Proportions are totally off, as well as perspective on way too much. I was mostly just getting a feel for his design. .... no more from me.

Hahah, that's very cool! Yeah, aside from just wanting to transform my car, I thought it would be cool to have just a regular, everyday vehicle get changed for once. All the sports cars and utility vehicles seem to get all the attention these days. As for the sequences, I thought it would give a little bit of a guide as to where all the parts ended up.... eventhough the final robot form I used wound up being a mix-and-match of all of them.

Although not a Transformers fan, I'm a major Grand Am fan. And, as you probably know, Pontiac was one of the sponsors for the movie; I'm sure you've seen the tv car ads where the pontiacs morph into the Robots. Alas, this movie came out long after the G'Am became extinct....

Yeah, poor Grand Ams. Mine still runs like a true champ though, despite all the tough times I've put it through. Really cool that you found your way to the image through your love for the cars. I hope to do more art with Rust, and hopefully some cool stuff with his car mode as well.

Great transformation sequence and concept, and excellent design. He seems youthful without looking cutesy like some of the later "young" transformers were.

Wow! That was an awesome rundown of Rust's appearance! That's exactly what I was going for. And I'm glad you took the time to check out what else was there, like the transform sequence. Indeed, it is a Pontiac! Nice catch. However, it's a Grandam... I could alter him a bit to make him a Fiero, though.... because that sounds like a pretty cool name! Not to mention they have quite a bit more of a sporty look to 'em. Hmmm..... perhaps a redesign in the future?

One reason I don't draw mechs is because of the complicated Tech Info involved. Too much thinking for me. lol

Thanks, Kazi! And I know what you mean. They aren't exactly my favorite thing to draw, either. But it's kinda cool... sorta like you're drawing a figure and a building at the same time with perspective and such being so important!
