While I realize you didn't make it, I just wanted to point out that the taijitu doesn't really work as a background image here due to the black half having more elements.

While that may be, there is still the fact that he may have tried to rotate the Taijutsu in the back to accommodate for this blunder. And as he tried, the white and black circles would be in the way of the elements Dust and Water respectively. And even if he changed their position to accommodate once more, the proportions would be different than a 2:1 ratio. This set-up was most efficient for his purpose.

I'm not sure if you're actually seeing the underlying issue here: There are an odd number of elements, and therefore it can't be balanced unless an odd number of elements are on the line between each side.

I do see that, the element Storm would have to lie on the line in the middle for it to be even, but seeing as how that would upset the element proportions, I can see why the artist did it the way they did.

This looks nice! But I can't read what's between the Lightning and Fire nature. It's on the right of Ice.

No that's not it... Dark is between Wind and Fire... its the purple icon on the top right corner. The one I'm talking about is above the Dust nature icon.
