Description

In her senior year of high school, Shadow Jones was on the swim team, mainly for fun, but also to keep her out of trouble. Two years ago, when she was sixteen, all sorts of strange things happened, including aliens making contact with Earth. She’d been instrumental in arresting an alien criminal up to no good, and had stumbled onto all sorts of other situations afterwards. That was then, though, this is now. She wanted to go to college and make a good life for herself. Her uncles, the Ninja Turtles, think that’s a very good idea.

Even though the school year is over now, she graduated with honors(thanks to tutoring from her Uncle Donny), she and the other girls on the team get together for a swim every now and then. Most of them had gotten swimming scholarships. Shadow didn’t, but they all still have fun. Today was no exception, although she was finished before her friends were.

“You go ahead. We want to put in some extra time.” One girl said.

“You sure?” Shadow asked. She was very considerate that way.

    “Yeah, totally.”

As she was heading into the locker room, she overheard some voices speaking low, but still intelligible. She’d arrived too late to hear what they were planning, but it didn’t sound good. The voices stopped, she heard footsteps, so she hurried into the women’s locker room. It seemed she hadn’t been detected. Maybe they saw a girl’s back going into the room. It wouldn’t matter too much. She was going to shower and get dressed so she could grab some lunch.

Nobody was in the shower. (No, not the vigilante that her uncles knew, he wasn't in there. Besides, he's dead.)  That was okay with her. She turned the water on and waited for it to warm up. She couldn’t remember anything after that, not even if she stepped under the water. The next thing she knew, her hands were tied behind her back, her arms tied too, her ankles together, a gag in her mouth, and stuffed into a locker.

“Shouldn’t have stuck your nose where it didn’t belong, Miss Jones.”

The voice that spoke was one she recognized. The voices had been too low earlier to really make out, but now she knew. It was her swim coach. She tried to tell him that she didn’t stick her nose in anywhere, but she couldn’t get any words out. He just laughed at her as he closed the locker door. She heard the click of a lock, followed by retreating footsteps. This was bad.

‘Damn, these ropes are tight.’ She thought. ‘Even if I can get myself out, how will I get out of this locker?’
