it was colored with prismacolor colored pencils. unofortunately my scanner washed out a lot of the color details

yah, scanners can do that, it sucks....depending on the programs you have, though, you CAN play with the color balance and see if you can get it back to normal (doesn't always work, I should know)
anywya, its a neat piece, but i do have a question - colored pencils ARE an accepted medium in an artist community in general as well as the non artists in the world at large - so i guess i'm confused as to why this is being submitted to a group dedicated to pieces done in ways people don't NORMALLY accept / believe?

Oh I thought it was for underappreciated media and I always hear people ragging on colored pencils as being an inferior medium.

well, that is true, but i have to wonder who the heck you're around - i've NEVER heard anybody ragging on color pencils before - we used them in school (college), the teacher just didn't expect certain degrees of ability out of them, they were perfectly acceptable as working ttools. I mean there are SOOOO many really nice pencils out there - prismacolors and designs. i've heard people get ragged on for the BRAND of pencils they were using.

Well I guess I just feel like I'll start coloring with them and people are like "why are you using colored pencils? it'd be better if you did it digitally/painted it etc"

oh HECK no! some of my favorite pieces are done in color pencils! ive started working digitally with color because its easier on me, my hands, my finances, and traveling (and with a 4 year old around)
but i actually got knocked recently because a friend of mine wanted to know why i didn't still use colored pencils - he HATES my digital art! there is NOTHING wrong with color pencils
but, you ARE right, the fact that there are people out there who do underappreciate things and it being "UNSUNG" mediums, i'd allow the inclusion of your picture (put something in your artists comments though to clarify it)
unfortunately, you'll have to resubmit because i clicked yes on it, and it DISAPPEARED completel instead of adding itself in! i'm totally confused with this whole group thing!
