Yesterday marked Sonic the Hedgehog's 30th anniversary!
To celebrate, I decided to draw some fan art for an official piece of Sonic media that I've thought of as fondly as some of the video games.

Sonic Dash and Spin: Hyperspeed!

It's a manga from the early to mid-'2000s that featured Sonic and his friends going on all sorts of bizarre adventures together! Throughout their adventures, they always run into Eggman. Who comes up with equally crazy schemes to cause trouble for the heroes and (hopefully for him.) destroy Sonic.

The art style for the series was very wild and expressive. Which reflected it's crazy and bizarre writing. That's probably why I like reading this manga as much as I love reading Pokémon Pocket Monsters. (Which makes sense considering both of them were serialized by Corocoro Comics and were based off popular video game franchises from the '90's.)

I tried to merge the manga's art style into my own. And tried to capture the same zany energy the manga had.
I wanted to draw Knuckles and Shadow beside Eggman. But I had some trouble drawing both of them all chibi-like...

The original site where I used to read it was probably shut down over the years... But nowadays, I just read it on MangaDex. (Which is one of the few places on the internet where you can go check it out for yourself!): mangadex.org/title/279cbf3f-97…
Fair warning, even though this manga is aimed towards kids, this is probably the most mature Sonic material SEGA has ever officially licensed. There's a few instances of characters swearing (including Sonic himself.) and whenever Eggman would get hurt, blood spills out of him in a cartoonish manner.

All that aside, if you're interested in this series, I highly suggest checking it out!
