Description In this picture, we find three of the coolest heroic Disney characters - Gadget Hackwrench, Montery Jack, and Zipper the Fly. But they don't look very happy. And it's because of a reason I'm not happy about. What's the story?
It springs from the Vault Disney page at Disney's official website. What's my problem with it? Well, if you go to that page, you'll clearly find that Disney's fans seem to know more about the character than even the official website does! The character profiles are filled with so many glaring omissions that it's no wonder I prefer to visit the Disney HooZoo List whenever I'm looking information on a particular character. Here are some examples: Donald Duck's profile doesn't mention that he was a semi-regular on "DuckTales". Although "DuckTales" is mentioned in Huey, Dewey & Louie's profile, Scrooge McDuck, for no reason, is missing from the whole list, as is Darkwing Duck, Launchpad McQuack, Bonkers D. Bobcat, etc. Pete's profile doesn't even mention that he was a regular on "Goof Troop", even though his profile does mention "A Goofy Movie", which he didn't have a big role as far as I remember.
But the worst part for me was that their profile for Chip 'n Dale gave ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION of "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers"! What were they thinking?! You can't make a biography for Chip 'n Dale and not mention anything about "Rescue Rangers"! The whole vault didn't say anything about Gadget, Monty, Zipper, or even Fat Cat or Professor Norton Nimnul! It was as though they were pretending "Rescue Rangers" never existed!!
That's why Gadget is so POed and Monty is so sad. Disney can't remember them. And even all three of these characters are mentioned in the book Disney A to Z, their profiles still don't do them justice. For one thing, Gadget's entry forgets her last name, and Monty's entry leaves out the fact that he can't resist cheese. Poor Rescue Rangers.
The Rescue Rangers and related characters are (C) Disney, even though they pretend it didn't exist.

I was so upset when I watched "House of Mouse" and only Chip and Dale were there, but not the rest of Rangers  .

Listen, it was a cute TV show but I lost interest in it BEFORE it went off the air and I doubt I was the only one.

That statement works both ways.  Just do a quick search for  "rescue rangers" on this site and you'll see there's many people who NEVER lost interest.

Yeah, that is upsetting. Disney remembers Chip and Dale, as they've been around even before CDRR first started, but they have forgotten about many of the other characters...

actually, Gadget wasn't really forgotten (she has her own ride at Disneyland, along with the fact that she's a meetable character, although nowadays, you're extremely lucky if you spot her, as her appearences are rare)

Disney tends to forget about their TV characters; in House of Mouse, you never see Gadget, Monty, Zipper, Gizmoduck, Darkwing or the Beagle Boys.

I also think it's sad that old cartoons are being forgotten. It's like the only time I hear about Yogi Bear or The Thundercats, is when Family Guy makes fun of them.

You're right, that is sad.  I'd especially like to see Captain Planet and the Planeteers again.  TV doesn't need new cartoons--it just needs edited and updated versions of old ones.  For instance, it would be nice if TNT made a new version of Captain Planet, in which Gaia warns the Planeteers of the eco-emergencies as soon as she sees the eco-villains getting ready, rather than waiting until the emergencies have borne fruit.  In the episode about whaling, Fare Thee Whale, when she sees the ship called the Whale B. Gone docked in the harbor, and the crew gearing up, she could warn the Planeteers of Looten Plunder's and Dr. Blight's plans for dishonest "research" whaling, and the Planeteers could take off in their Geo-Cruiser.  When they arrive in the waters off Japan, where a pod of whales is feeding, and see the Whale B. Gone approaching, Wheeler could melt the harpoon guns with his fire ring.  When they summon Captain Planet, he could use his powers to turn the ship into a vessel that humanely researches and rescues whales and other marine life, equipped with a submersible to cut trapped animals loose from drift nets, and record what is happening on tape, to show the public.  The ship, now called the Ocean Protector, could have a mechanical arm that removes trash from the water, and the cutting blades could be used to cut up the trash.  The submersible could also patch leaky pipes in oil rigs, and remove bombs and missiles from the sea bed, and when the ship reaches shore, these could be brought to a missile range and taken care of.  Every now and then, there should be an episode featuring the ship doing this.  The episode about elephant poaching, Last of her Kind, could also feature the Planeteers stopping Plunder's assistant Argos Bleak from killing vultures with poisoned elephant carcasses, and Gaia could remind the Planeteers of the useful service that vultures' scavenging provides (it prevents the spread of disease).  Also, there should be a new version of Talespin, in which Akela is the mayor of Cape Suzette (which should be renamed Cape Seone {pronounced see-OH-nee}, after the wolf pack, who could be the City Council) and Raksha (Mother Wolf) is Baloo's manager.  Her husband Rama could be the accountant, and one of their cubs, who could be named Sanjay, could be Baloo's co-pilot.  Tabaqui the jackal could be Shere Khan's assistant, and the cliff guns could be operated by Colonel Hathi and the other elephants.  Instead of Don Karnage and the Air Pirates, the bad guys could be human poachers, whom the citizens of Cape Seone would be constantly thwarting, and Bagheera could be in the show as an ethics professor, educating people as to why all living things have a place in this world, and why people should not be idolized for how much money they have.  He could also be the Shaman of Cape Seone, and heal people spiritually.  Also, Shere Khan could be white as in Rudyard Kipling's version, rather than orange.  Jacala the crocodile could be the mechanic.  Perhaps Ikki the porcupine could replace Louie, since orangutans are not native to India.  There should also be an edited version of MASK (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand).  It should be changed to Mobile Armored Strike Knowledge, and Razorback should be Gloria Baker's vehicle rather than Brad Turner's (he could still operate Condor), since she's a professional race car driver.  Thunderhawk could be Ace Riker's vehicle.  Slingshot should be Matt Trakker's vehicle--Matt Trakker (this should be respelled Tracker) could operate the jet portion, while Bruce Sato and Alex Sector operated the mobile surveillance unit portion (Sector would operate the rotating gun turret), and Goliath should be a VENOM (Vicious Evil Network Of Mayhem) vehicle-- Miles Mayhem could operate the race car/jet while his twin brother Maximus operated the truck/missile launcher.  Rhino should be Hondo MacLean's vehicle--Buddy Hawks could still be his co-pilot, and operate the ATV portion in defense mode.  Jacques LaFleur could operate Firecracker, and Dusty Hayes could operate Shark.  Firefly could be Nevada Rushmore's vehicle, and Hurricane could be Julio Lopez's.  The alteration of agents to vehicles could be as follows:
Matt Trakker, Bruce Sato and Alex Sector: Slingshot
Dusty Hayes: Shark
Ace Riker: Thunderhawk
Hondo MacLean and Buddy Hawks: Rhino
Gloria Baker: Razorback
Jacques LaFleur: Firecracker
Nevada Rushmore: Firefly
Julio Lopez: Hurricane
(The following vehicles would no longer be necessary: Gator, Wildcat, Meteor, Buzzard)
Miles Mayhem and Maximus Mayhem: Goliath

I see what you mean.  Thank you.  But I think Disney also needs remakes of many of its films.  For instance, a nicer outcome of The Little Mermaid might be if, after Ariel sees her father King Triton turn into a polyp, she grabs his pitchfork before Ursula can reach it, and kills Ursula with it.  Flotsam and Jetsam thank her for freeing them from slavery.  When all the polyps, including Triton, turn back into merpeople, Ariel gives her father, Flounder, and Sebastian each a big hug and a kiss, and apologizes for causing everybody so much trouble and for being such a selfish brat (an angelic-voiced brat, to be sure, but a brat nevertheless, lol).  She tells Sebastian that they should have his concert again as soon as possible, and this time, she shows up, and performs the song Sebastian wrote--which turns out to be about being true to one's self.  Eric, meanwhile, could get to know the Princess of Glauerhaven better, and he could marry her.  Ariel could then ask her father to make lightning-shooting pitchforks for her and each of her sisters (Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Attina, Adella, and Alana), and they could patrol Atlantica daily, looking for fish and other marine life trapped in fishing nets, and use their pitchforks to free them.  The credits could show Ariel continuing to do this for her remaining 284 years as a mermaid, before she dissolves into sea foam but gains an immortal soul, in a similarity to the original tale by Hans Christian Andersen (according to which merpeople can live up to 300 years).

He was a favorite of mine, also.  I love when he lectures Chip for the latter's presumptuous attitude towards Tammy the squirrel:  "She likes you, ya big dummy!"  No offense, but Dale had a point.  When Chip broke her fall, Tammy so lovingly said to him, "Chipper, you saved me!  You're my hero!", and then expressed her desire to become a Rescue Ranger, he responded, "You are not a Rescue Ranger.  You are just a kid.  And don't call me Chipper."

Disney can forget all they care to. I won't. Rescue Rangers was the brightest spot of my childhood.

Monty and Zipper were great, but the real shock is that Disney is overlooking one of their most popular non-Princess female characters ever. Gadget has tons of pages across the net dedicated to her and is the subject of more than her fair share of RR fanart, cheesecake, traditional or modernized. Boys and girls alike loved her.

She was cute, smart and when the chips were down as brave as the boys, if not more so (anyone recall "Case of the Cola Cult"? Gadget went Rambo and put serious boot to tail!) She was very unique for a female Disney character at that time; she was the rescuer, not the damsel in distress.

But like I said, it doesn't matter. We'll remember Monty, Zipper, Gadget and even 'ol Fat Cat until were old and silly.

Well, the show currently comes on Toon Disney at 10:30 AM on weekday mornings. Unfortunately, with a time slot like that, and the fact that Toon Disney's prime-time schedule has been polluted by Jetix, I doubt if "Rescue Rangers" will be around next year. Unless, of course, Disney releases the series to DVD, which they probably never will.

I STILL Love The Rescue Rangers. I was lucky enough to find some Disney Pins (Yes, I collect them) of Chip and Dale in Rescue Ranger garb. It was kewl.

And somewhere, lost to the annals of time is a RR fanfic I wrote (And never finished). I haven't looked at it in years.

Kewl pic of Gadget, Monty and Zipper. *Nostalgic Sigh*
I have one of Gadget in my gallery, I think.

Well, the show currently airs on Toon Disney. Unfortunately, due to bad scheduling (the main reason I joined SaveDisney), it only airs at noon (or 11:00 AM where I live) and 5 AM (4 AM here). In fact, judging from the network's strange disappearance of "Gummi Bears" and "Jungle Cubs", I won't be surprised if this show disappears forever next season.
