i love the partner in pokémon super mystery dungeon
my partner was a froakie named bubbles
they are cute and i love them
(i used this tutorial for the space background thing at the bottom!!)
PSMD spoilers below!!!
the plot twist of the partner being the mew that fought dark matter in the ancient past completely destroyed me. i didn't see it coming at all!! and i love the message of accepting the more negative sides of yourself and not just brushing them aside or pretending that they don't exist... that's a surprisingly cool message for a pokémon game! and when the partner tells you about how their fight with dark matter was partially a personal thing of them fighting to forgive themselves for messing up when they fought dark matter in the past... tying in with the message of accepting your negative sides... making it both a general message for everyone and a personal struggle of the partner..... holy crud.
...this game really is more about the partner than it is about the hero/protagonist, isn't it

but yeah, this partner is definitely my favourite partner we've gotten in a PMD game. fun, cute, super relatable, matures a lot throughout the game... what a cool character
also, listening to their theme completely destroys me emotionally now. i don't know why. i can't listen to it without getting all emotional. super mystery dungeon why
the background is meant to be the trunk of the tree of life, and the ground is meant to be the area that you fight the final boss in... i think the tree of life looks pretty mediocre here, but the space-y ground looks really cool. i also really like how i drew bubbles. they are Determined

I'm playing Pokémon X for my YouTube channel and I named mine Aquanimity. It's a pun on aqua (obviously) and equanimity (meaning cool and calm). Bubbles is good too though.

i kinda love how psmd ends up being more about about your partner than about your hero/protagonist, haha 
hearing the partner's theme in the final boss theme (and some other places, like the music in one of the scenes leading up to the final boss) pretty much destroyed me when i first heard it (in a good way, haha). i love when games do that kind of thing with music – like, when a certain theme is remixed in various different, fitting places.

PMD partners have always been pretty great characters. I haven't gotten to the point where I'm super attached to mine, but I'm gonna get there SO HELP ME ARCEUS

Leitmotifs in games is one of my favorite things ever. PMD2's Time Gear theme, Gates' Glacier Palace themes, Super Paper Mario's Memory theme, Kirby Triple Deluxe's Hypernova theme (plus Green Greens series-wide), Undertale's... everything... leitmotifs are the best.

yeah, i remember liking pretty much every PMD partner! with this one, i remember my initial reaction being like "this kid seems a bit annoying, but in a way that makes them still likeable to me, if that makes any sense at all"
leitmotifs are amazing i love them. it's a pretty great feeling when you're listening to music in a game and you recognise a certain melody in it and it's like "WOAH NICE", haha!
