It went like this: KurauAmami ( modder extraordinaire!) kindly took the custom Shepard that Padme made for me some time ago and she turned it into a usable in-game modded appearance. She was very patient and precise and explained to me how to go about "installing" Shep in the game, and after recuperating from a couple of horrid mistakes, I am now able to play the entirety of ME3 with my proper Shepard. Needless to say I've been playing mostly the Omega dlc for now... 
It is epic and I am SO THANKFUL!
