I have little water pots set out all over my garden for the tiny birds,
I use the bottoms of those clay pots and fill them with water every
day and the tiny birds are not scared then by the bigger birds...
Only 1 white throated sparrow showed up, he was paddling andΒ
splashing but I know more will come soon

The tiny birds are scared of my black birds, they watch the water fountains
but have been afraid to go in...
I put the little flat pots at the base of the fountain so that they can feel as
if they have all the water features going on in their own little baths...
You can use the plastic pot bottoms too Barb, but all I had was the clay ones
and they seem to like them because they are a bit more study and heavier
and won't move with the splashing
