yes they were i think, in the same page you can find lots of deleted stuff, just as characters, i found it quite interesting, for example the real name of Scar was Taka and there's the reason why he had the scar, or a cub named Kopa which was the son of Simba.
I don't know, i don't think they're still selling that book. I'll leave here some links if you're interested...
