Idem is the newest character I'm working on. He's going to be a medieval fantasy character, who is deaf. I'm making make a hearing (person who can hear and speak) character to hang out with him, and translate signs.I've wanted to play a deaf character for a while, but role playing is largely about communication, and I wanted to make sure I could make it work.
Because it's medieval times, ASL doesn't exist, so the signing the two characters will do would actually be a code they worked out together. Hopefully I can get a lot of meaning across just by Idem's expressions, and pantomime. For everything else, he's got his own personal translator!
^that said, he will be able to lip read (within reason), as well as be literate.
Obviously I'll be taking a lot of liberties with how the character works for the time period, and such.
Ha, I'm happy just to have a character I can draw making various signs for artwork. (I've wanted to try incorporating sign language into my art for a while.)

XD You'd have to learn sign language and beat Rakka to win Idem. Granted, since they managed to loose each other, at this point someone could probably just throw Idem over their shoulder and walk off.

For my process I just sketch on computer paper with a regular pencil, once I have something I like I scan it, and the rest is painting in Photoshop CS2.

Well... i think it has something to do with how both Idem and Dookie have a sense of mysteriousness about them.
