I needed to make some sort of presentation for my online class, and we're allowed to use flash.. so there you go.O.o I wonder if I should be worried about fangirls attacking me? OH WELL!
Anyway, there is some sound.. will be more later. YOU HAVE TO CLICK THINGS, and/or roll over them, in order for things to happen.
UPDATE:
I just read a PDF essay discussing Buffy vs Bella as female protagonists in vampire fiction. Its interesting, and fun, and I thought I'd share it for those who actually read the artist comments: [link]

You don't have to be ashamed. Twilight is a really, /really/ good junk book. Meyer is an accidental genius, you could say. All those horrible, 'bad writing' techniques that reek of mary-sue-ness, and fanfiction clearly appeal to teen and preteen girls. Its the sort of thing you don't read for actual content. It just pats you on the head, and tells you you're pretty. I enjoyed reading the first one when I wasn't thinking very hard. I'm sure I'd have liked the books (fleetingly ) if I'd read them as a high school freshmen, or something.
I think what a lot of people (particularly fangirls) miss is that the problem isn't that Meyer did something different with her vampires, it's that she did things that didn't make sense, or reflect the SPIRIT of the creature. But yeah, vampires the smell more of vampire-y-ness are the best. Anne Rice has my favorite take on vampires (though I never read the books I'm ashamed to say), as well as Laurel K. Hamilton. But my favorite vampire books are Tanya Huff's Blood Books, and the Smoke trilogy that follows it, though her vampire isn't /exactly/ to my liking- but I guess that just proves I CAN be flexable about different takes on vampires, right?
I'd recommend seeing Let the Right One In, it's a foreign film, but they really did a great job making a bloody, ruthless vampire film, while still making the vampire character, and the main character quite endearing.
(XD I'm happy to hear that. I'm thinking of making a deviation or two based on that conversation, I find it so amusing.)
The assignment's grade is based entirely on the technical skills of making the animation, which I'm already way better at (for all the billions of tweaks my Twilight Presentation needs @.@ )than was expected for the class. The subject and writing were basically meaningless to this project. So I just had fun with it. Normally you'd be completely right, but this isn't a very formal presentation. (I tend to go in a sillier direction.. I've been mildly scolded for it by my English teacher for using cartoons and such.)
And just so you know, so far yours is one of my favorite comments on this presentation. You made me happy

THANK YOU! finally, someone who isn't completely obsessed with vampires! If you ask me, the whole vampire genre has been totally over done! GIVE ME MORE WEREWOLVES! they're cooler than vampires in so many ways. And besides, sparkly vampires are for sissies.
I now worry for your health. Run. Run before the brainwashed fangirls attempt to rip out your heart!

Sorry, you haven't found someone who's not obsessed with vampires. I actually own The Vampire Book, Encyclopedia of the Undead. I just hate Twilight, and Stephenie Meyer.
I think it's more like authors realized that vampire fans are starved for vampire literature, and so a lot of teen authors are taking advantage of that (or publishers are, by letting authors that aren't very good out of the closet).
I agree werewolves can be a bit under rated. Best vampire books are a mixture of modern fantasy, in my opinion. Vampires are a bit more interesting to research, but I don't find one monster to be better than the other.
OH DEAR LORD *flees*
*cough* Actually most people have been pretty cool. Of the Twi-fans that'd popped in, only one was a pain, and I think she confused herself. (seriously, read the person who commented before you, it's hilarious. XD )

This was awesome. I love it when people actually look into the reasons twilight sucks. Not that I don't approve of random bashing, (xD) it's nice to have legitimate reasons as to the crapiness of the series. You also put it in an excellent format of which I highly approve! ^_^ I love the little crying Bella, it was adorable in a "You deserve to cry" sort of way. xD

Thankya! I agree. It was so much fun researching what people who actually gave an indepth look at the book had to say. It's fun to just yell "TWILIGHT BAD" really loudly and all, but it's much more interesting to dig into the real nitty gritty, and back up what you have to say with facts. Making chibi characters like that in flash is my favorite thing.

I don't mind people saying they think its the best book ever written, I just think they're wrong. (We're both entitled to our differing opinions. Nothing hypocritical about that)
I hate the book, I greatly enjoy reviewing it, and talking about what I think is wrong with it. It's a way of thinking critically, which is good exorcise for the mind, and just plain fun.
This animation was a school project. I had no idea working hard in college constituted having no like, and made me a douche bag. =O
You say I shouldn't waste my time on the book if I hate it, but you're clearly pissed off at me, and yet you're wasted your time looking through my animation, and even commented. You wanted to voice your opinion, right? So did I. WE CAN BE DOUCHE BAG HYPOCRITES TOGETHER!

You can tell it's against Twilight immediately after the title sequence. If it took you most of the presentation to figure out it was even about, that'd be pretty sad. o.o
You commented because you wanted me to know what you think. I made the presentation because I needed a subject for a school assignment, and I posted the assignment on DA to share in a chuckle with any one interested in having one.
You think I'm being a hypocrite and inappropriately offensive because I made a piece of art work expressing my opinion on a fictional piece of work- yet if you're so offended by what I did, why are you the one attacking me for my opinion?

Read it from the first chapter - she's ostensibly writing it from the point of view of an enthusiastic teenage fan, but she mostly just rolls with the sarcasm. I find it pretty hugely funny - to the point where I've found myself quoting bits in normal conversation, like:
*runs into the forest*
WWWHHHYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyy..
And! Seriously! But feminism is kind of a "bad word" these days, so I can see where people might be inclined to say "it teaches young girls disturbing things" rather than "it has a disturbing anti-feminist message". I can't say I buy into the "they're the wrong kind of vampire" argument (maybe they're not MY brand of vamp, but it's still a fictional concept overall, so she is free to mess with it), but... can we have some more people questioning the romantic merits of stalking...

I can't wait to read it. =3
I feel like saying it has an anti-feminist message makes a stronger point. Though, I can see where people might go the other way.
You know, I really don't mind people making their own take on vampires. There are, after all, a LOT of different versions of vampires throughout history. I do take issue when someone removes a key element attributed to something, and replace it with something that makes less/no sense.
The only thing they actually have in common with vampires is drinking blood.. and since they don't even have fangs, there's nothing to separate them from fae or demons.
So I think there's a difference from having an original version of a creature, and simply being ignorant of ANYTHING about it, and using that as an excuse to write what ever you want for no reason.
(And if i let myself I'll go one for ages about that crap X3 )

Hahaha, no, you've got a point there! From what I know of her version (okay, admittedly not a whole lot), I'd say that in my opinion they're pretty sucky vampires. (Give me p. n. elrod's Jack Fleming any day. In fact, give me Jack fleming NOW... yesss. Yesssssss. Er...) I do see a lot of the "she is doing it wrong" argument, though. Where people go "vampires are like THIS" and cite something like Buffy or Anne Rice, which you can't even pretend is a "first" or "originating" vampire mythos. x)
That tack always makes me go.... yyyyeahuh?
But the "removing pretty much all the defining characteristics but one makes it just silly" argument is one I can see.

I'm always amazed by some of the "VAMPIRES MUST BE LIKE THIS" arguments. Sometimes from people who claim to have actually /researched/ the stuff, and all they're doing is picking one random thing they read, and insisting its better than everything else, for no real reason.
I feel like the best vampires take into consideration the old myths as well as how vampires have evolved today.
I'm currently reading the vampire encyclopedia. It's glorious. =3

Unfortunately for me, while I like the vampire concept, the way it's done in almost all fiction just doesn't click with me! I find this kind of sad; I'd like to be able to indiscriminately enjoy more vamp fic. I think my problem is that I am bored if they just agentlessly, choicelessly Evil - but I absolutely want them to be actually dark and complicated and problematic, not a fluffy stand-in for someone's biting fetish. Dx Elrod and Tanya Huff are basically my saviours when it comes to vamp fic. (You might like the Vampire Files, if I haven't already recommended them - they take in to account older bits of myth, but yeah, the character isn't quite a hairy-palmed revenant.)

I know what you mean. I planned on looking into the Vampire Files (specifically because you recommended them once), as well as the Dresden Files (though not exactly a vampire series). I've been reading Tanya Huff all year. I love Henry Fitzroy and Tony so much. <3
The only other vampire series I've read is Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter by Laurelly K. Hamilton. (I know I've recomended that to you before) Definitely good in the dark, and complicated area. The earlier books in the series are the best.
I've been thinking about getting Let the Right One In.. but after reading some mixed reviews, I'm having trouble deciding. It may actually be a rare case of the movie being better than the book (which is practically blasphemy!) Hear of the movie or the book before?

Grab the vampire files, I need someone to squee over them with! Speaking of squeeing: eeeee tanya huff! I just picked up Blood Price with the intention of leaving it at a friend's house. I love pretty much all her books (oh, and the second and third Tony books are a tonne of fun.)
Mm, I've read laurell k.! Before it sort of gradually turns into mostly softcore porn, i really enjoyed it, though more for Anita than the vampires. They're a little too anne rice for my, personally - I really can't explain it. x)
My friend gave me the book as a thanks for doing a poster for her, actually! I found it interesting, though a few segments were kind of "augh gross"? More the look-at-our-gritty-real-life-gosh-darn-it bits than the vampire bits. It wouldn't be at the top of my list of reccs, but it's worth a read, I think.

Heh, I looove Tony's books. I've read the first two of the Blood books so far, and the rest are on my summer reading list.
Yeah, that's pretty much why I stopped reading the series. I like her vampires (but then I like Anne Rices, as far as Interview goes, at least), but I get why something else my be better. The fact that Tanya's vampire books /aren't/ vampire books is probably one of the big reasons their so good.

Considering that by in large the fan base is rabid, it's an accurate generalization for the sake of a small school project to portray them that way. This isn't an essay where I'm trying to portray a balanced view. It's a silly presentation where I'm purposefully stereotyping the general fan to make a point, but mostly it's just a joke.
I should hope its fairly obvious that it doesn't apply to all fans, and that I don't believe all fans are that way. In fact quite a number of nonrabid fans have happily commented on the presentation. If you're offended, you're taking it to seriously.
O.o I don't get the 'anti-human' quote. It's not anti-human, it's very clearly the female characters that are incapable, both human and non human ones, who need the boys to come save them regularly through out the entire series. I can't say that no girl ever does anything for herself, but it is a clear theme in the story.
I agree that the feud between HP and Twilight is silly. Not that they couldn't be compared if you tried, but there's no real reason to. No reason why people can't be a fan of both, or prefer one of the other. Certainly personal preference is not a legitimate reason for insisting one story is better than another.
It's cool to point things out. If you can't already tell from this massive reply- I really enjoy discussing things, whether I'm being agreed, with disagreed with, or what have you. So I'm glad you took the time to comment. Thank you. ^^
