The oceans do seem to have a too gradual change between shallow and deep, but that still looks nice in it's own way, it's like the oceans are very shallow and tropical-like I wonder what it would be like to live on a planet where all continents are connected

That planet is extremely realistic kudos,

I've been thinking about getting 3Ds Max, is it worth it?

Planet looks great! Just the lighting isn't finished. How did you set up the lights?

thanks mate!well i left the default one as it is and rotated around the scene with the orbit tool and zoomed in a bit closer to the planet, the thing is i had a total hard time getting the light right so i rendered it with just the default light, cause the surface looked pretty ok and i wanted to show it,i have the scene saved to practice more on lights and cameras,so i guess ill be practicing a lot with this scene, the texture map was 7000x3500 i think,my pc cant handle bigger ones.thanks for checking it out, cant wait to see the gas giant tut, aaaaaau!

It's just great the tut worked so far for you. And you'll definitely have to get into camera and lights in Max. Fortunately in space scenes it's relatively easy.
