Yep! I've found it finally!
I saw this picture about a month ago and I've been thinking about the idea that you had implied. Itachi looks like a child, lost and confused. He is a little one who needs... don't know what... help? advice? This is his real face not that one he showed to Sasuke that night. So deep!)
/and if answer to your previous comment,
did you somehow study for colouring in digital? now I'm in some kind of a crisis about that( I have no algorithm for
digital colouring - sometimes I do it for hours and have no result =__= then I print my line and take watercolours))) ahaha!Β

Sadly, people seem to forget that for all his skill and standing in the ninja world, itachi was still a kid when he had to do this... Really good art by the way? What program do you use for the coloring?

The one thing I particularly like about this piece, and what others have mentioned already, is the fact that he looks like a child! He was only thirteen at the time, certainly not an adult.

this is incredibly touching! just a boy - that's what he was! of course, sasuke had to remove this memory, in order to be able to nurture his hatred. i find it not so often, that digital pictures show so much dept and life in them.

You're right about digital pictures, it's because there are many ways to use this media, and the 'painting' isn't the most common nor the easiest ^^
Yes, he was just a boy, 12 years old he was still a child - strong and mature for his age, a so called "prodigy" but STILL a child, poor boy.

My favorite part of this picture is his eyes. It's as though he's cried all the tears he has, and this is what's left. You have such a gift for capturing emotion.

)

I love how you actually made him look like a child. Because he was thirteen when he massacred the clan, and I don't think the manga does justice to the loss-of-innocence scene. Beautiful work as always.

He always acts so mature for his age, so that's reflected in his look.. here I made him very 'young' right because at the end he was only 13! poor boy.
Thank you so much ^///^

..Sasuke had removed this memory..this INDELIBLE moment of his life..Itachi, after picked up from the ground his forhead protector fell after the short fight with his little brother , wearing it again quickly and badly , in the moment he was ready to leave the Village turned back and looked to Sasuke crying... This scene in my opinion, is the most tragic of the past story of these two unfortunately brothers.. Itachi, in this part of the story, left his childhood, his happiness, the people he loved , his life, his innocence ,everything ..falling in this deep darkness, in these restrained tears that fell down throwing him and his beloved brother into a tragic future of death...

We can see the pain in his face, which is awesome! You did a great job here!
The sword, the forehead protector...
But the best are his eyes!

When I first saw this picture in the preview, I had assumed this was Hayate XDDD.
I like it. Just one question - from here it seems like his ninjato's (or whatever Konoha's ANBU are lugging on their backs all the time) scabbard is attached for LEFT-handed draw; but, as far as I remember, in Sasuke's flashbacks of sadistic Tsukiyomi Itachi kills their parents with his RIGHT hand. Maybe he's just that good with his weapons or I've mistaken something; anyway, just thought to point it out.
About 'only a mission'. It seems strange to me that sometime after the massacre both Danzou and Madara suddenly have a whole shitload of spare Sharingan eyes securely bottled up and ready for transplant. While Madara might've found something in old Uchiha stronghold or made his own stash sometime before that, I sincerely doubt that Danzou had missed such an opportunity. How he had managed to pull that off under Old Sarutobi's nose is another matter entirely. And don't forget the (supposedly) deceased Itachi's girlfriend that Madara mentioned - it strikes me as odd that Itachi would beg\barter\threaten for his brother so much and wouldn't do anything about his mother and his love (assuming she wasn't his bride for some sort of marriage of convenience; but IMHO I can see Itachi going out with a girl totally out of "what's appropriate for the Uchiha clan heir" range just because he feels like doing so). If Madara could have whole shelves of organs stored securely for years, what would prevent him from storing some not-so-dead Uchiha in stasis somewhere?
About that damn Sharingan eyes... Danzou did say that he had connections with Orochi after him going nukenin; methinks that him sporting various functioning Kekkai Genkai had something to do with that. That means Orochi may have had his own Sharingan way before luring Sasuke out. Why all that debacle and sacrificing whole Sound Barrier Team for that? Maybe Kakashi was the only one to survive the transplant without losing much of Sharingan's capabilities in known history? Or maybe Kishi just hadn't thought of that n years ago? Who knows...
Whew. Really long comment - sorry for that!

^^"
Well, about the sword, it's for right hand, you can see its hook next to the right shoulder - I just drawn it a bit too much vertical, but I had to do this way, to keep visible the entire face of Itachi.
I wouldn't define 'sadistic' that Tsukuyomi, rather 'necessary'. In fact, in that illusion, there was lots of blood... while Itachi in the reality was perfectly clean. Isn't it strange?
As concerns your thought about Itachi and his worries for the persons who loved, it's interesting, and I'd say that the answer is just in Madara's words 'only a mission'. It's just unsuitable for Itachi, and the prove is the talk he had with Naruto in chapter 403, and above all in his smiling by hearing that answer from Naruto, substantially: 'never give up, even if it seems there aren't other solutions, even at the cost to seem unreasonable'. I believe he smiled to this because he thinks the same. So, I believe he really never gave up his personal belief (does it remind Shisui's last words? uhmm, I think those were written by Itachi), he never wanted to kill his loved ones and lots of innocents. In fact, he was clean. That's my theory
About Kakashi... I think that all about this chara was made just because of its popularity. He has sharingan, and even mangekyou... there's no reason for this, out of being 'gifts' for a very popular character. It's a matter of entertainment industry - just my
sorry for my late reply, but I'm not so good with english

Oops! Haven't noticed that, my bad! )))
Now that you mention it, yes, what Sasuke was shown was just an illusion (inescapable one at that but an illusion nonetheless)- Sasuke only saw what Itachi had deemed necessary for him to see. What Itachi was doing that night is the knowledge only Itachi holds...
And what irritates me the most - I've wasted so much time on searching all those flashbags for information and I still don't know what the hell all that was for - Itachi didn't tell anyone. ((
On a completely unrelated note - when I've been watching the anime version of 'Madara recruiting Sasuke' scene, I've got the feeling that all that sudden 'I hate Konoha' and twisted logic that led to 'It'll honor Itachi's memory' looks a hell lot like Sharingan suggestion planted by Madara; it reminded me of the first Kage's meeting when Danzou had used Sharingan to do just that.
About language - don't sweat it. I am a russian myself; without good ol' Lingvo I'd be much, much worse XD.

It looks so cold and sad, so beautiful!
I love how red and puffy/swollen the eyes
are, you can see the tears whelling up,
but his eyebrows almost make him look
mad/frusterated.. it's stunning!

Thank you very much! Drawing the eyebrows I corrected some lines that would have given him a thoroughly destroyed expression, so I did as if he was trying to resist ^^
Ah, and send me informations about your characters, anytime! I think to have some time to do them, now ^__^
