Description
Canon IXUS 800 ISISO 80
15sec
How to make this. I sit on a beach in the philippines with my mini tripod and set my camera to make 10 or more pictures in a row with a exposure of 15sec. Than you need a bit luck that the lightning than flashes when your camera make the picture.

Amazing shot! I am faving this one Looks like you were able to pick up some stars above the storm. That really adds to the photograph.

Awesome shot, something to admire from a distance.
Family has a regular camera here and I have to take videos to get anything during a storm.

A better method is set your shutter on bulb, Open it up and hold a black cardboard over
the lens, remove it when you think it right. then put it back over and wait til the next strike.
Using this method I have captured as many
as 25 strikes on one image. Give it a shot. This is a beautiful image..

NivisTigris In reply to netzephyr [2007-05-27 22:02:30 +0000 UTC]
why should that be risky?

sitting out in the open in the middle of a thunderstorm tends to be the best way to get struck by lighting; apparently as long as you're close enough to hear the thunder, you're close enough to get struck... especially when you're carrying a lump of metal.
Well worth it tho!

the thunderstorm was 20 or 30km away from me.
no clouds over me.
many houses with metall roofs, trees and elektrikal wires behind me.
nothing metal on me.
i used a mini stativ. with cam 15cm high.
so it was really not risky.
