Description Just added some inks and colors to my half-orc drawing.  This is actually the first time I’ve had to consider what his skin tone would be.  I originally wanted to shy away from green, because it seemed too obvious; but after going through several different variations of brownish-grey, green just ended up being the color that worked best.

Makes me think of Skyrim.

Yeah, Skyrim has been a big source of inspiration for me in recent years and I did have my Skyrim orc character in mind while drawing this.  Which works because Skyrim orcs are much closer to D&D half-orcs than the D&D regular orcs.  Again, as with the Hulk comparisons, the goal was to draw a character that I'd want to play as, not to completely reinvent the wheel when it comes to orcs' appearance.

Very good!  Yeah, it's green, but not the dark or bright greens I've seen that look over-the-top; this seems more grey-green and works well.  Plus I like the red seeping through some of the bandages - nice touch.

Thanks!  I imagine that Uerl just got done with some sparring practice against a tree trunk, hence the bloody knuckles.

The similarities to the Hulk were plainly evident to me while I was drawing it (and another reason that I initially wanted to avoid green skin), but I saw no reason to consider that as a negative.  The goal here is to depict a D&D character that I played once before and would like to play again.  100% originality was not something that I was worried about.  Besides his look is still consistent with most depictions of orcs across the most popular fantasy franchises.

well 100% originality is i dare say almost impossible to archieve in this day and age ... it´s pretty hard to think of anything that we didn´t have before in some form or another and comparisons will be always made

I know what most of the words in that sentence mean, but I don't understand the reference.

Sips is a youtuber and the youtube group he's in is called the Yogscast. He kinda looks like the orc you drew... or atleast the drawings of him. Just look him up and you'll see.

His color looks a bit ghoulish. Maybe standard orc green would be better? I know he's a half-orc. Or maybe standard human peach color. Hmm!

Fabulous work of course.

I'll probably continue to tweak the skin color in future drawings.  I was always intended to be a color that was not fully human and not fully orc.

Thanks!
