I'm not being fair - OR AM I??!!Snow is annoying. Hope/Lightning and Hope/Snow is kinda..... scary D= foreseeable though scary. However, strangely enough Battle Team Lesbian isn't
FF13 is one huge disappointment - oh how the mighty have fallen. I forced my sister to play it for me while I slept and I STILL got bored. Now neither of us have the motivation to finish it
And now, to avoid misunderstandings;
It's not that I'm hating FF13, I'm just not very impressed by it. Square promised something amazing and in my opinion what we got was something average. Thus the disappointment. There were things I really liked about FF13 and also things I really disliked about FF13 but I must say I'm not out to troll anyone.
I hope my deviation made you laugh
The way it was intended was to make people happy; not angry.

The old FFs are quite good, I'd recommend them! It's kind of like a book meets a game and more often than not I found it to be quite entertaining. 7, 8, 10 and 10-2 are my favourites.

honestly i didn't find it to bad.....i just stoped because i obviously suck at it since after playing 4 days straight i still couldent defete the 5th chapter boss (the giant bulbasure) -.-#

The characters were good actually, except Snow with his whole "hero" thing. He needs better development. =.= And the plot wasn't very catchy. It was much like FF10 but it's a more modern world where everything is too mecha-based. And wtf eido-rides? That cracked me up. xD Sure they were interesting but when Shiva first fused together I was like... "Okay... Was that lesbian sex?" XD
I have to admit, FF13 has the best graphics but story, not so. I prefer FF10 (before they ruined it with 10-2) and 9.

FF13 plot leaves soooo much to be desired. What I liked so much about FFs was going about towns and talking to the people, it felt like there were stories within stories. Which they got rid of for seemingly no reason whatsoever D=

Yeah, it's like they changed the whole FF into something else you can't find a genre for. -.- And yeah, that stuff about the people. I miss wasting my time around town doing mini-games like blitzing or playing cards or stuff. And I really hate the datalog thingy. You have to read it to understand what they're talking about.
I couldn't agree with you more! XDXD FF13 was full of shoujo ai! They make all the girls so closely related! Or Light's supposedly sibling relationship with Hope, hahah. And Versus, with all that ShotgunxPrince stuff (not that I complain), but seriously I wish they're better. I see that FF is all about fanservice these days =.=... I'd rather they go back to a more decent plot than just close bonds.

Why does everyone hate FF13 so much? Well yeah okay it it isn't exactly what you would expect from Square Enix and the FF series.
But hey, they told us that before they even released the game. That this was going to be something really diffrent.
And I actually like it that way, I like the battle system, and there's actually some really deep relationship between the characters going on.
Well not everyone, but I take Hope and Lightning for a example. They start off with the wrong terms...
And now.... Wow I never expected them to hug! But they did, and really surprised me.
The cutscenes don't bother me at all either. You know why? Because I really have the feeling I'm litterally playing a movie myself. The graphics are so stunning and they really did put a lot of effort in this game.
Even so, for the rest of the fans I do hope they make something more alike the other FF games. But this one is a keeper in my opinion.
And who ever said there's no freedom at all in roaming around... Well, if you take a good look at FF X. The freedom was lost there if you ask me. You do have some space to raom around but, you still have to follow a certain path.
Even so... FF13 still gives you enough freedom in my opinion, in some chapters you can walk as you please.
The only thing I'm dissapointed in? They could've made it a bit more complicated.
If I would play the game in one whole. I would've finished it in less than a week I guess.
That is a little dissapointing. The game is too short, and you get through it way to fast.
I dunno what else to say, but I don't think this game deserves to be critisized on so much.
But maybe it also is because I'm just in love with the characters... The story, and the stunning graphics.
And battle system, because I have the idea you're not only choosing a strategy anymore. This way is even more hard in my opinion.
Dunno how FF XIII Versus is going to be but Can't wait till they release it.

No it wasn't all for you xD dun worry.
It was merely pointed at most of the comments, even though I only read half and not much more than that.
But if you put it that way, yeah I guess you're right. The game be a lot better I guess.
But I think it's also a matter of taste xD Because I like it, someone else doesn't.
But ahh well, I hope Square Enix takes these sort of comments with them and hopefully XIIIversus will be better.
I expect a lot from that one, so I hope it doesn't dissapoint me as much as this game did for others x]

I got bored after one session, I think I just got the first summony thingy (What are they called now?? i duno haha) I haven't played it since we bought it in march... It's just not captivating, I've watched my bf play it and even then it's just like meh haha.
It's not too bad though, It is as you said, disappointing
I'm not anticipating the others really, I started to lose interest in final fantasy after Dirge of Cerberus

I think Square lost their way after they stopped being Squaresoft and became Square Enix =/ When I look at my games all the good ones from them have Ssoft and the bad ones have S Enix. It's a lolgical deduction 8D

I kinda like Nomura's designs D= I thought the characters were quite good only they got put in a sub-par story. At least they make their bodies more realistic than a load of other video games do and exercise SOME artistic direction. Unless you can prove me wrong I don't remember characters in FF getting as bad as say that or this (look at own peril). And they aren't even the worst, just some I can find at short notice

If there's a sequel, I could pray that it wasn't as humongous a let-down as this game was. Then I'd have to consider Square's efficiency at sequels and... yeah. One can dream.
Let that be a lesson. Trailers that only show loads of cutscenes, montages of battle clips, and MINOR tidbits of exploration are showing exactly what I'm getting. Loads of cutscenes, battles, and not much else. Such potentially great characters... except Snow... gone to waste.

I think it's very difficult to tell anything about a game from trailers PERIOD! Even from revues as well.
At least versus looks like it has proppah blood and disembowelment and carnage - I'm interested to know how squeenix can screw THAT up. Baaw I hope they don't screw versus up

I hope Versus is a flop to that Nomura can get his head out of his ass. What WOULD have been great was more content game goes from Cutscene to Battle, repeat. When the game removes its "Metaphorical Tunnel" the only thing you get to explore is a big mesh of grassy plains instead of anything similar to the beautiful locales you've been denied from exploring.
I like the battle system and the Crystarium. It was perfectly balanced, and people still haven't completed developing their character +200 hours in. But why would they want to, when the only thing they have to do is battle?. Even in Gran Pulse the only side distraction is fighting. The formula gets stale very quickly.
I don't care how necessary the linear path was, it made no difference when I was granted the freedom on Ch.11. Playing though Ch.11 made me realize just how lazy the developers were. What's worse is that I could have seen so much more potential if hey had decided to make the game one disk longer for PS3 owners or 360 owners (I own both copies). More story and developement (Preferrably for a villain or side character that doesn't get killed 2 minutes after being introducted), side crap to do (I saw potential with a racing venue, or card game of old FF appeal), more areas (Pulse is devoid of Human Life? Biggest mistake on the story's part), and anything else. People who think MiniGames couldn't be integrated, consider the fact that the 6 l'cie do ALL of their shopping and smithing via online retailers despite being chased. That fact would have made a side distraction seem plausible.
*groan*, HUGE dissapointment. Not a bad game, but NOTHING compared to its sheer potential. Pity that such good characters (Cept Snow) went to waste on this un-epic release. Really hoping for an epic game (Sequel, that doesn't suck) which reuses the characters, at least the four remaining ones.

Nomura doesnβt make the games though, I think he just works on the main character design. They have huge teams of writers and artists and planners and programmers and musicians and what-not working on these games. I might be wrong of course but if anybody needs to get their head out of their arse it is Square Enix as a company. Everything seems so balanced and planned against itself to make as much money that itβs becoming sterile!
This is a complaint I can make about almost all the games nowadays, I think the last generation was the last when they had actually FUN games. Like, actual GAME games not this cinematic bullshit with only a shiny outer shell and nothing of substance inside.

What's more, the director of the game stated low reviews were because of a Western viewpoint. How fucking ignorant. They were obvioulsy marketing this game for the west from the getgo with leaking trailers, early universal release dates, the "History of FF" Trailer, Sneak-Peaks, Leona Luis,Linear Design, etc. For them to blame the reviews on because of our expectations is just proving how much of a failure both they and the game they created truly is. It is a shame, because underneath all the crap, I saw and still continue to see such an amazing amount of potential that could have been FFXIII. A waste that such a grand setting, characters, mythologies and premises must all go to waste on this pitifully executed project.

Screw that. Nomura announced Versus, which hindered the progress of the main outing which is what his ass SHOULD have been working on. Instead they got the team from the critically bashed FFX-2 to make the game. For that, I hope Versus is an immense failure.
