Description

I played the DMC reboot and while it was very pretty and a fun game yeah they completely butchered Dante and Vergil's characters. They don't look remotely similar and their personalities are not remotely similar either.

Okay maybe DMC3 was not the most “sophisticated” of games but at least it had some subtlety. I'm not sure the original Vergil was even particularly evil. He didn't want to “rule the world!” like his reboot, he said to Dante “without strength, you cannot protect anything” and I mean come on what's the most obvious thing he'd want to protect? On top of that I'm pretty sure the original Vergil wouldn't be the sort to lie or betray or shoot people in the back or behave in all the shitty ways reboot Vergil does.

And at least with the original Vergil and Dante you got a sense that they actually had history and cared about each other even though they were fighting all the time. Reboot Vergil and Dante on the other hand have only just met and would be legit okay murdering each other without a second thought to meet their ends. That's kinda boring tbh :/

To be fair though, DmC is an alternate universe thing so it never really bothered me how different it was. But yeah, I could understand why people don't like the changes with their personalities.
The comic gave me a good laugh though. I love it

But if they were just gonna change their personalities and how they looked and the plot and everything why not make a completely new game?

Who knows. You're totally right though. A new game would have made more sense

i would say DMC3 Vergil was more of an Anti-Hero, not good nor evil.
But i guess, he felt powerless that he couldn´t save Eva, thats why his "i need more power"-thing.

DmC Vergil... yes. His Actions had a good meaning, but totally wrong at the same time.

Did you play the DLC? He just goes full asshat there :/ In some kind of alternate universe he kills Kat, Dante and then goes to Eva and is like "Mom I killed Dante!" and she's like "Vergil but why??" "Because he was your favourite son waah waah".
