Description
Another shot of the Cloak and Dagger 2-in-1 mini-bust that I recently sculpted for Bowen Designs. This is just a close-up of the twisted souls inside Cloak' s... umm... cloak, without Dagger in place to obscure the view. Here's a link to the full MB with Dagger included [link]
1/8th scale mini-bust of Cloak and Dagger to be produced by Bowen Designs, Inc.

Fantastic! I ran through some earlier comments and saw that you use sculpy,
I'm attempting to make a transition into sculpting, and I have a few questions if you do not mind.
What size is this? Did you use an armature? About how much clay went into this? And finally if you baked it how did you do so?
Every time I attempt to bake my sculpy it either gets melty and droops, or I burn part of it :/
Any help or advice you could give would be much appreciated
Thanks for the inspiration and something to aspire to

Thank you!
The best advice I can give you is to follow this [link] to conceptart.org and check out Peter Koenig's (Smelly Bug’s) tutorial on using sculpey. It's a very long forum thread that follows the process as Peter makes an armature, sculpts the piece, textures it, bakes it, and then paints it. There's a ton of quality info there and it'll probably answer many questions you didn't even know you had.
Following online tutorials like this is exactly how I learned to sculpt so I really can't recommend them enough.
Let me know if it helps!

Ah yes that Firelord drama was epic! It all turned out okay in the end so no harm done. Really glad you liked the original of that one as well.
Thanks! I was pretty happy with how Son of Satan turned out. Nice to know that I'm not the only one!
Thanks again for all the kind words about my stuff!

1 billion dollars!!!
Seriously though, I don't take commissions at the moment because I'm a little too busy with my jobs from DC and Sideshow. If I ever have some extra time to work on a commission on the side I'll be sure to let you know.
Thanks again for digging my stuff man!

Cloak and Dagger need more page time. Maybe a costume revamp, but not a drastic change. Just an update. I'll get my people on that. Meantime, excellent statue with an awesome concept. How do you people come up with this stuff?

No-Sign-of-Sanity In reply to work-is-play [2009-12-11 18:45:36 +0000 UTC]
Agreed! They definitely need more page time. As far as their costumes go it's an easy fix. Dagger need to look like her costume is made of light so her body should be just a silhouette of glowing white light with some skin peeking out in that dagger pattern across her front. Cloak need to look like he's made of ink floating in water with just his head and arms peeking out. Both are easy to do because it cuts down on render time and drives home the fact that she is a being of pure light and he is one of pure dark. I'd love to draw them like that for Marvel but nobody has asked to yet.

Fantastic concept! The expression of anguish in the large head on the left is particularly well done.

its an Amazing work!, How did you make those faces and details inside the cape? did you use a special tool or model each face apart?
I´m a self taught amateur sculptor. Its like my frustrated career, if you can please take a quick look to my work and let me know how you think
thanks !

No-Sign-of-Sanity In reply to DSabal [2009-11-10 22:26:56 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! I didn't use any special tools or anything and all the faces were done at the same time. The only trick to it was that I sculpted all of the faces first and then built the rest of the cape around them. That way the cape wouldn't get in the way and I'd have full access to to the area without bumping my tools into the cape where it overlaps the faces.
Your work is very promising and you definitely have talent! The best advice I can give you is to really study human anatomy and enroll into some figure drawing classes. Taking figure drawing classes with live models is the very best way to learn accurate anatomy quickly, and fully understanding human anatomy will definitely take your work to the next level.
