Description
This is the value study for the Cloak & Dagger painting with which I'm currently obsessed. I spent way more time on this one than I usually do with my value studies, but I wanted to make sure that I had a pretty finalized idea of how the entire piece should turn out before I committed to breaking out the big guns (acrylic paint). I'll eventually move this to my scraps, but for right now I think it's deviation worthy.Just pencil on a Xeroxed copy of my own line art.

You know, I think I like this one even more than the finished version (could be because I myself am more of a drawing artist; I can just smell the pencil when I look at this). Which I faved earlier. So this has to be a fav, too.
Your stuff is awesome!
Actually you walk around seeing this kind of amazing stuff all the time on comic- or book covers, on movie posters, on ordinary food packages (most of the stuff's not photographs but extremely realistic art ) and such but right now you stuff makes me just go "
There's actually real people who can do that?!
"
You have my respect. *bows*

Thank you! The finished piece is going up here in a couple of days, so hopefully you’ll dig the final outcome. You can be the judge if I've made it apocalyptic enough.
All this talk of apocalypse has got scenes from "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome" running thru my head. "Whoever busts a deal must spin the wheel!!!"

Before I clicked for the Full Page view, I was already starting to drool of amazement.
The extraordinary detail, put into every little piece of art, in the whole of the theme you chose for, it's just mind crushing. I got goosebumps at how eerie you managed to make the picture in the picture. This is a journey in a journey in a journey.... When I "took in" the main man's eyes, purely demonic. The detail of his face and hands speak for themselves, it's bottled up inside and you expose it very well.
I cannot wait until this is painted with acryl really, though for me, this, is already a masterpiece now.

Girl
I never knew Cloak & Dagger before seeing this, I must say, so maybe this comment is totally unworthy
If my words touched a fraction of what you managed putting down here, I will be over the top happy, trust me.
You deserve a place at Marvel in my opinion, but I'm just me and not a busy/cranky/arrogant employer. If not at Marvel, which I hope for you coz I know it's your goal, you will definitely have to strive to get a job in this world. Your work is incredibly detailed and very fragile and strong at the same time, I've yet to see an equivalent on DA for that!

Ooops!
Sorry about that... Ms. Spottywuff!
No, you really did hit the idea behind the two characters right on the head and I 'm glad I was able to get some of that across in this piece.
Wow, thank you so much for the truly nice compliments. Hopefully I can make us both proud! I don't know if I'm THAT good, but it's nice to be told that I am! THANK YOU!!!

The tortured souls took a bit longer to design than I would have hoped, but I like how they turned out. Now I have to try and not go all ape-shit crazy with lensflare and lighting effects when painting the damn thing. Mila insists that the composition needs some tortured cat paws in there, and keeps attempting to add them herself when I'm not looking. But, we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

Your sense of dark and light is unbelievable O_O I can't wait to see the finished work!
Just one small, small detail... Cloak's hands look af is (s)he had gloves or some sort of clothes over them - so unless that's the whole point, you should add just a little bit of texture there. Other than that - perfection

Thanks for the advice on the hands. On closer inspection I can see what you mean, but I'm hoping that the addition of color will help sort that out in the final picture. Some great eyes you got there!
