Description
The serpentine basilisk is primarily found in desert areas, usually being born in humid swamps. This basilisk is a little over 6 meters long, a small size compared to the largest living and extinct snakes but extremely large for a desert dwelling snake. Like many of its relatives, the serpentine basilisk is a highly venomous ambush hunter. The snake’s venom is extremely potent and can kill cow sized prey in a few minutes.
Serpentine basilisks are highly cannibalistic creatures that frequently eat their young. This has led to the development of crocodile like armour and sharp head horns which in females are much longer to protect them from their older relatives.

Like many desert snakes the basilisk often uses the sidewinder technique to keep its body off, or burrows down to keep it under the hot desert sand.
