Back on Pangea Proxima life is far more diverse than large predatory shrews. In the tall forests surrounding the continent’s central desert, many other strange creatures can be found.
Giant flightless bats fill the noch of high browser, followed by an entourage of tiny paradise eating micro bats which are preyed upon by a giant cricket. Clicking a chittering, a flightless descendant of vampire bats assesses it’s possible victim before deciding not to take the risk. Above it flies a descendant of Pygmy shrews, a new clade of flying mammals that dominate many flying niches. Stalking near the dark undergrowth, a large carnivorous bird descended from passerines looks for a potential feast.
