Description The original map was good but I felt like it needed a bit more to it to help it stand out.

original area descriptions by

Downtown: This is the main hub of a combination of restaurants, stores like you'd find most anywhere (clothing, electronics, grocery, ect.).  The buildings contain the more Middle ages-esque feel of the town but contain many modern items and present plenty of fun places to eat.  There is quite a nice comicbook store located here as well as a music shop, the library, and the bakery

The Marketplace: Here you find a combination of shops and stalls unique to Sarun itself.  Most days (weather permitting) in the spring/summer/fall open air stalls are located here selling unique items that come in with local traders, including foods and interesting books and artifacts.  Here is also where you will find stores such as Azul's bookshop, a quaint cafe, the blacksmith, and the local bar.

The Bar: A comfortable and warm place thats actually quite inviting (despite the fact that Shade spends a lot of time here).  The inside is decorated with tables and chairs/stools of polished wood to match the bar at the head of the room.  The lighting is dim but not terribly so and there are always the smells of good food coming from within.

The castle walls/Castle grounds: the castle walls are just beyond the marketplace that almost seems to wrap around them.  The walls are not so tall as the main walls around Sarun but still offer some protection to the castle and include one set of gates leading into the grounds proper.  Here you'll find the castle, Shade's garden, the training grounds for the guards...and interestingly enough Sarun's local pool.

The castle: After the previous tournament much of the castle was in dire need of rebuilding.  Because of this the castle has taken on a slightly more modern feel than it once had, though maintains a combination of modern and medieval design.  Stock photo:  www.medievalarchives.com/wp-co…

Shade's Garden: This garden takes up a good chunk of the grounds to one side of the castle.  It is lovingly tended to by Shade herself and holds a variety of flowers (mostly in purples and other darker colors), though her pride and joy are her roses.  These are kept in their own area surrounding a fountain.  There is also a small shack out in the garden that works as Shade's tool shed, complete with heat inside and a comfy chair should Shade decide to stay out there for a while.  The very back of the garden contains the Hedgemaze.

Training grounds: Here is where Sarun's guards are trained and often housed.  Here there is plenty of open field space for training as well as housing for the guards if they choose to stay on the grounds or need to due to duty.  There's also conveniently a pool nearby.

The cemetery: Directly behind the castle lies the cemetery.  This area is pretty self explanatory, though it also contains the ruins of what was once the Champion's crypt, a place that once housed memorials to previous champions.  Due to damages to it from the previous tournament most of these artifacts were moved to the museum.

The Arena: Here is where the tournament will take place, a large stone arena set in the middle of a rise of seating and boxes for viewing the competition.  The champions have a specific box for them to sit in.  Outside the arena you will find a board featuring current matchups, as well as small food vendors trying to take advantage of the heavier traffic.

The Museum: Some memories never die.

Hospital: Built into an old tower like building the hospital looks as if it may have once been part of an older version of the castle.  With all the bells and whistles of a new hospital and that ever pleasant bleachy smell on the inside. It's located near the arena for obvious reasons.  There are several large trees located nearby that the champions may have used to escape care a time or two.

Hotel/Inns: there are plenty of these around Sarun, but most often used are the ones located near the hospital.  There are several that are quite sizable and quite nice!

Residential areas/Park: Pretty self explanatory.  Here is in large part where your locals live.

Outside of Sarun:
Outside of Sarun you'll find for the most part woodsy areas and some meadows.  Just beyond the walls to the back you'll find Sarun's local lake, which many people flock to during the summer.  you'll also find a few residential areas outside the walls as well, but not expanding too much further beyond the walls.  Paths lead out to various other kingdoms from here.

hmm, i'd say make the downtown area and marketplace bigger but other than that, it's a nice update :3

my concern is the scale of sarun. i want to imagine sarun as this massive kingdom that is the size of a city at minimum, but if that were the case, the cemetary, areana, hospital, and castle would all be unrealistically massive while the market place would be unrealistically small given their size proportionate to the residential areas. based on the layout and proportions, it almost looks like sarun is a theme park
