If you are in a dojo, you can't do without Hitomi.

Art direction:

I wanted to give it an aged look, kind of rugged and tough in a sense. The best way was to make the image slightly washed out, and increase the contrast. The dust particles would further reinforce the look.
The mist was added post-render, using Blender's in-built compositor. The volume scatter shader would actually look nicer. However, the render cost is too high for a 4K render. The added mist is more cost effective, and it achieves what I wanted.
This time, realism takes a back seat. What I want is 'artistic coolness.'

The focal length used in the camera is 25mm, with aperture setting of 5.2.
A focal length of 30mm or more narrows the view. 25mm allows the camera to capture more space, so the environment looks vast.
The narrower aperture will ensure that the background isn't too blurry, so it wouldn't look like Hitomi is placed in front of a backdrop.
