Description Very loosley based on Ghost from Starcraft - one of these days I may go back and rework this to add in the armor and make this look more like Ghost but that requires breaking out the Intous and well - I am easing my way back into the art thing I actually did start recoloring the body suit with my mouse and - yeahhhh - way too much work to do it that way! So for now she stays camo...

By the way - sci fi is not one of the things I do well so be kind - heh.

I love this work, but I can't imagine those boots would be practical in a combat setting.

Haha, beautifully done. The background is of the art museum here in Milwaukee, which in my opinion is one of the most futuristic buildings I've seen in many a city.

Cheers!

about the same. started playing WoW a couple years ago and have a ball with it so most of time is spent bullshitting online and killing monsters made of pixels...

I played WoW for a few months on Suramar (alliance) and some other server for horde. I don't play it anymore though. I kind of miss it, yet I don't. Such a time sucker.

I don't know. I kinda dig the shadow the way it is. It's a SF piece so what the heck?

I just want to know how the hell you got that girl in their so seamlessly??? I suck with PS so bad you could see it from a mile away but in this you can't even tell.

Damn. I gotta practice this stuff.

2 words:

pen tool

heh

In my past, I spent about a year working pre press and running clipping paths and got to be a whiz with the pen tool, add in the years I have worked in advertising and the need to always change up the photography (never the photographers fault really - more of bad planning on product developments side...) and clipping objects out of their original state is one of my strong points.

I would take a guess that the PS tool with the highest learning curve is the pen tool, but once you get it figured out it is soooooooooooo easy to use and you will wonder how you ever lived w/o it. I actually had a discussion with PS developer about the various ways to remove backgrounds in PS and he confirmed that the pen tool is the cleanest cut there is, so I have always used it.

I have found that one trick is to cut in about a pixel in, this gets rid of the pixels that are blending between the object and its background and make the cut out image much cleaner. I also will float the object (in this case the girl) on black or white and look for areas that are not smooth or do not make sense to the eye (odd angles and such).

I will have to hunt down some old ad work I did that is (if I must say so myself) probably one of the most impressive images I have ever done for an add in that the entire scene did not exist as it appears in the ad. To this day it remains one of my favorite pieces of corporate work
