I like the design of that fighter. What's the story behind the structure on the background?

Are these fighters based off of the Russian jet that can do the 'snake' manuveaur (name eludes me at the moment.)? The reason I ask this is because they resemble it slightly.
My only attempt at a critique would to define the white blur in the upper left hand corner. As it is, it looks too abstract to form a relation with anything that exists in the actuall world.
If you were to edit this, refining that blur would make the image a little better.
