One of two very different pictures, taken under the same lighting conditions, but with a very different retouch. I like both, though my model and girlfriend *AvoidContact isn't quite fond of the other one

This is the far-more texturally-interesting/engaging image. The other presents her more iconically, as a comparatively-closed vision of perfection.
I'm also drawn to the color-dissonance between her lipstick nails and hair, in that her lips seem to resonate with the values present in her body; a confession.
In all, this image speaks to me of a moment of dynamic uncertainty in a well of special intimacy.

Exactly so, and something slightly more specific. It's a photgraphic capsularization of the aspiration to reach beyond personal bliss into the risky universe of another person. In that way, it strikes a universal chord of terror, opposite the serene contentment that drives the moment in both photographs. This one spins precariously on the frontier of new trust. The other is only about contentment.

Same here, I think it's the larger frame and the warm lighting.

She should be, it's a great shot. I expression really has a mix of a hint of vulnerability with tentative playfulness.
