Reminds me of the Moreau series byΒ S. Andrew Swann . Basically about genetically engineered animal-human hybrid soldiers being used as cannon fodder in a series of land wars throughout Asia. Many of the hybrids emigrated to the U.S. after these wars, and ended up as another disenfranchised minority. The protagonist is a second-generation Tiger who's father fought in the Indian Army against Pakistan, and is now a gumshoe private eye.

Yeah, and he appears to be mechanically augmented (cyborg). Looks like he'd fit right in many science fiction video games and movies, had they humanoid animals. Imagine it!Β Deus Ex: Animal Revolution!
