I really like the way the liquid is flowing out of the glass. It gives it a nice, soft feel, despite the whole 'glass smashing' thing.
The timing of the camera shot is very nice, and I'm guessing that you were relieved to be able to do this in just no more than a couple of shots.
When I first saw this, I thought it was blood! A very nice picture, with a nice set of different textures.

The timing is mostly just luck... and, as far as not getting hurt, that's mostly luck as well.

I just triggered the camera by hand, its actually pretty easy to get the timing right.
