Description
These are images from 2 deleted scenes of the comic. I still haven't decided how exactly Zosma's hump should look like (but for sure it is a progressive thing: the older he gets, the more stooped and crippled he becomes).Zosma is one of the brothers of Egmont (at least the royal dentists managed to fix his juvenile buck teeth
He has already be seen here: Ytalia's Last Kings . The lady is Egmont's first wife, Queen Ainadamar.
And the story is not : oh I'm ugly as shit, no woman will ever love me, and then she arrives, discovers his inner beauty, forgets her handsome husband (who happens to be the Emperor) and falls in love with the disfigured hunchback (who is the cesspool of the royal family).
I mean, I have nothing against overused cliches, but they are so corny.. (Like if falling in love with an ugly-looking person should be regarded as a meritorious act)

Oooo the rainbow light coming through the stained glass is gorgeous! Does Zosma spend most of his time in a chair with pillows like so because of the hump then? Or is that something I"ll wait and see in the comic?
It looks like Queen Ainadamar is coming to either spend time with him or console him - or both. Either way it doesn't look cliche to me :3

Well the two have something in common that is not love.. more like a common passion/interest.. and yess you will see in the next part of the story..
just be patient a little bit more!
Zosma sits in the chair basically because he is too weak to stand for prolonged periods of time, and his health is deteriorating quickly..
(I like to make up super- tragic stories

Oooo okay! Don't worry about me my friend, I'm more than willing to read the story at the pace you can illustrate it While tragic I like the thought that goes into the characters you create - and this is a story placed near the end of days, lots of things are going down but it not just the story it's how you take the messages :3

Siii! Ammazziamo i clichè!

)

Indeed! They are okay, but when you've heard it once, you've heard it one thousand times.
Most people fear change. They require the same story as a seance of security or control, like how a child longs for their mother to read the same bedtime story, with no changes.
They like to know that little red will always be saved by the woodsman. That Hansel and Grettle survive the old witch's house. In the end, Ivan goes from 'fool' to 'Tzar'.
They fear change because they fear the idea of losing control. I fear I can understand as a communists who desired routine and order in our world. But sometimes, things change, and we can do nothing to stop them. Like when my best friend, Gary, died when I was 12. (By the way, Gary is a cat.)
But you know, we have to come to terms with that fact that things change. Nothing is permanent. Eventually, we'll all just be dust in the wind. We just have to learn to accept that, and make the most of the 'here and now', and some people need more time then others to accept these things.

I don't know this was the intention, but I appreciate how when we first see him laying on his back there isn't any apparent indication to his disfigurement, you are only shown his handsome face and the somber expression he has and it isn't until he sits up that one notices his humped back. And then once he is sitting forward it almost seems to demand the viewers attention and his expression completely changes with it.
I don't know if that was the original intention, but either way, this piece is as stunning as always! Very well done.

Well apart from being an inspiration for birth control, Zosma isn't turned out half as bad as the other misforunated ones on his family tree. Still, probably being royalty on the highest step in politics certainly helped that... and the fact that he lived thus far. But he really have a chance in my opinion. Not with her or anyone in her leauge, after all, lame horses shouldn't run on a track.
As for the not story. Agreed, that is the among the most unrealistic and pretentious clichés. Mostly because most as I think ugly, disfigured or just plainly unaccepted people don't have inner beauty. Not like their reception should do anything with that, but as a few proved by themself that these people either grew utterly helpless and pitiful or just even uglier within out of jealousy. Neither is beautiful nor inside nor the outside.
Being ugly is a heinous crime before humanity and comes with a fitting punishment.

Well, ugly or not ugly he is still one of the royal princes.. Therefore if he wants to sleep in company he has just to say the number, size and color of the women he wants and puf! they are all in his bed eagerly waiting for his royal ugliness..
Unfortunately poor Zosma is in so great pain most of his life that having sex is not one of his top priorities, so to say..
Yes it is true that not everyone who is ugly outside is beautiful inside and viceversa (I personally think that the two faces are unrelated)
My point against this cliche is slightly different... Love has nothing to do with physical attractiveness (or ugliness) and more important love is not something that one can decide upon logically.
You don't fall in love with a person that meets certain reasonable standards.. I mean even if you knew 10 pretty girls, all lovely, all kind and gentle, hardworker, faithful, etc you don't automatically love each one of them of them, just because they are technically ok.
And you can easily fall in love with a nasty girl, who for some obscure reason warms you heart...

Well, that was... base. Yes it's true and evident (Even Yerkes and Yrsa will probably get a chance to experiment on "how deformed can a bloodline go".), but by he have a chance I didn't meant he get's laid. Anyone can waltz into a whorehouse as well, leaving it a little more relieved both physically and financially, but I wouldn't really call that a pinacle of courting or socialisation nor an achievement. But again they are royalty. It's doubtful to feel anything or have the need for it. Every word, every gesture has a political interest behind it, without any honesty or sentimental vallue.
Which is actually practical, come to think about it, but again it's a bit base.
Well since beauty is subjective, I think we can conclude that everyone is beautiful depending on the right audience.
As for attraction, it depends what you are looking for. And I mean what you want, not what you tell yourself or others you want. Nasty-proper, tall-short, fat-skinny, it's all based on a subjective taste. You have to loved back to make it work, but I think that's all to it, being mutually technically ok, it's quite logical. The cliché part comes in when you are given characters who are told to be technically ok ("like pretty girl, lovely, kind and gentle, hardworker, faithful, etc") and you are incapable to really feel anythin towards them, because that's not what you want, but what an objective opinion thinks it's best.
Of course to be decided by logic, one should know what he wants. Without it, it's just do trial and error until he nails it (probably by accident) and then calls it "the big one" given by the *insert whatever you believe in* for his trials and miseries. While in reality he just stumbled into someone he wanted before, just didn't found it and didn't even know what to look for, just chased an image painted by others.
Of course I also don't believe in perfect harmony or ideal people, so after that it mostly depends if one vallue can overweight a vice, as we all are far from perfect. Maybe Zosma finds someone who find enough attractiveness in him to mask his flaws.
But again and always, what do I know? I'm really just trying to form my opinion with little experience. Love it's universally considered a foolishness, so probably I'm wrong.

Sorry I couldn't reply earlier..
Well, this really surprises me (specially coming from a male )
Anyone can waltz into a whorehouse as well, leaving it a little more relieved both physically and financially, but I wouldn't really call that a pinacle of courting or socialisation nor an achievement.
Yes of course it isn't.. but do men really care? Most men just want to have "fun" so to say.. and don't give a damn about building a relationship.. (and many women behave in the same way, but I think it is more common among men) Buinding a relationship is hard work and not always pleasant.. you have to give up things, spend time doing things that you don't like to do, only for the sake of your partner.
But with a prostitute if things start to get boring, or you just want to change.. you can! Having one (or more) mistresses was a common practice for french Kings ... I think Louis XIV had 6-7 of them... some were even "official" and really famous (like Mme de Pompadour)
Most men are trapped with one wife because they don't have the financial means to get a mistress (or more).. but I think that if they had the money they will! 100%!!
Kings are not more hypocrite or false than the average human being, they just have the financial means to put in practice what others can just dream!!
When looking for a relationship, in truth most people just want someone that makes them feel "loved, important, admired, accepted"... Whether admiration and love are sincere or not, it is not very important.. (because we eagerly want to believe good things regarding ourselves... like the 90 years old millionaire who marries a 20 year old porno star and is sincerely convinced that she loves him.. )

No problem.
And well that depends on each individual on what they seek in a relationship. If it's just mere sex they looking for, then probably don't care how to obtain it, perhaps just find a relationship more economy-wise on a long term. You still can **** someone and the money goes to things both can enjoy, so you get your basic need and maybe half of the money makes it back to you... only that it probably won't happen whenever you want it. Question is how far they wish to go in that. Because yes a relationship is a mutiliation of your own independecne, allthough I wish to extend to mere caring. The more you care about a person or a thing, the less independent you became. Total indifference is the ultimate freedom, after all, if you can live with it.
For trapped people. Well, again, what you seek in a relationship. It's evident that love and sentimental feelings shall fade and disappear. That's why people bond themself officially by marriage and have kids that gives them a newfound purpose, even if that's another chain you put on your back, as even if they cannot live for themselfs, they have to live for someone else. Just like our parents did, well, for most of us. But again I don't have twenty-thirty years of marriage behind my back, so I'm just guessing by mere subjective logic.
Still, if you seek to find something or someone to live for and not just to pass time, then you probably won't get trapped. Whenever it's a political party, a hobby or just a family. If you don't well then, "you just want to change..."
As for whores and luxury whores (these organisms will never become more than mere whores, no matter how pretty, ellegant and sellable they are) are just the proof of that. For royalty is actually understandable, they make marriages as an exchange of power and such. They would kill their own mother with the ammount of land offered. As such it's only understanadble to move one once they got what they wanted and put on a ring on a hand which's owner made enough heirs.
For common men, well "things start get boring" and the world's oldest profession come to offer them something fresh and basicly what they want for mere money. Of course such things only worth that much. Easily bought, easily spent.
As for relationship, well I think that's the point as long it's mutual. A sort of mixture of selfishness and selflessness. Allthough perhaps what defines them are the effort put them in. "Small money, small football" (as Puskás' saying going around at Hungary) You have to work for everything, if you want to make it good. Problem is that most people in my opinion got the delution that mostly hear in liberal dogmas spread in the media. The delution that you deserve things more than others or anything to begin with. You deserve this, because you are human, you deserve that because of this, you deserve that for that, but as far as I can see:
You don't deserve shit. You earn it. (not adressing you by you, for the record)
And that perhaps applies to most things in life. In my life, while not quite experienced in matters of love, quite earned enough respect through my life, at school, at the family hierarchy, at life, at work. Not by claiming it based on reasons, but by working for it, sometimes unfairly for me. Still sooner or later the fruit of your labours (or lazyness) grow their fruits, maybe not in the form you were expecting, but you get it. So naive it might be from me, I think this applies to relationships as well, if you don't work for it, then the whorehouse it around the corner. They just need money.
...
Whooh... now I really got sentimental and corny. Anyway, again probably I'm wrong again for if it would be this easy, just be true to your ideals, then the world wouldn't be such a wretched place.
