Description   You turned the corner just in time to hear Shizuo’s notorious “IZAAAAAAYA!” Beaming with excitement you walked further down the sidewalk to get a better view of the action. Many people living in Ikebukuro were used to the constant violence between Shizuo Heiwajima and Izaya Orihara and didn’t even bother to stop and watch anymore. You however, savoured every bit of it. Ever since Izaya transferred to Raira Academy and first started the feud between him and Shizuo you’ve enjoyed watching them. To be specific, it was Shizuo you liked to watch.

Almost everyone else was afraid of Shizuo because of his monster-like strength, but to you it was magnificent. You thought it was magically how easy and effortlessly he could pick up things as heavy as a filled vending machine then throw it halfway down a street.

Although you knew Shizuo since high school you had never actually talked to him before. In fact you were ninety-nine percent sure he didn’t even know you existed. Caught up in thoughts of Shizuo you drifted into a happy daydream where you finally got the courage to formally introduce yourself and confessed your love to him. Unfortunately, because of your daydream you noticed the sign post that was flying towards you a little too late.

You groggily opened your eyes and saw people around you; shocked, at what had happened. You felt your weak body be lifted up by a pair of strong arms and suddenly you were, rather quickly, being carried down the street. You looked up to see who was carrying you only to find out that it was Shizuo; whispering, “Shit, shit, shit, shit.” Under his breath.

A small smile appeared on your face as you closed your eyes again and lightly rested your head on his chest. His heart beat was rapid.

“Just as I thought. Strong, yet gentle,” you thought as you drifted off to sleep.
When you opened your eyes again you were in a hospital bed. Your body ached as you tried to sit up.

“Oh good, (y/n) your awake,” a nurse, that you knew fairly well, greeted you. “Wow, besides a few broken ribs and some minor bruising here and there you came out pretty scot-free.”

“I thought you weren’t supposed to work today? Also why do I have a bandage on my head?”

“I wasn’t originally, but then they called me saying they needed more people. That is because when you came in your head was bleeding a little, it should be fine now.”

“Where’s the man that brought me here?”

“You mean Shizuo? I think he left, but you do have a visitor.” The nurse walked into the hall to call your visitor. You had no idea who would visit you, besides maybe Shizuo. You doubted that even your friends knew you got hurt. To your great surprise, your visitor was an information broker.

“Izaya? What are you doing here?”

“I simply wanted to check how one of my loyal fans was doing after being attacked by the mean Shizu-chan.”

“He didn’t attack me. It was an accident.” Like Shizuo, you had never talked to Izaya before then. “Oh I’m-” You tried to introduce yourself, but Izaya interrupted you.

“You’re (f/n) (l/n). You went to Raira Academy, you work at this very hospital as a nurse, whether coincidence or not, you’ve been to many of the times Shizu-chan has gotten angry over my presence and tried to throw something at me and although you’ve had a crush on Shizu-chan for years, you’ve never been able to say a word to him. Him hitting you with that sign is the first time Shizu-chan has become aware of your existence.”

He was right about everything, but it’s not as if you liked to admit the last few things he said.

“How did you know…? Hey! I don’t have a crush on Shizu-ch- Shizuo,” you said a bit flustered.

“You mustn’t forget. I’m an information broker. And boy do I love my job. I first saw you in high school, but didn’t really pay attention to you until I continued seeing your familiar face at mine and Shizu-chan’s battles. At first I simply thought you liked to watch people fight, but there was something in your eyes, a kind of twinkle, that made me think differently. Then I realized, it was always when you were watching Shizu-chan that that twinkle appeared.”

“Jeez he’s observant. Even about someone he barely knew,” you though as Izaya went on.

“Even now, years after high school, you still look at Shizu-chan with that same twinkle. Well I best be off by now.” Izaya was about to leave when he looked at you once more. “Oh yes, do you have an idea of when you will be released?”

“Considering it’s just a couple broken ribs and a few bruises probably later today. Why?”

“Just wondering. Us information brokers like as much info as we get. Even if it may seem useless.” Izaya waved goodbye and left. You had a bad feeling Izaya was going to do what he always does and cause trouble. Specifically for Shizuo.

Just as you thought you were released from the hospital later that day. Although you wanted to go thank Shizuo for taking you to the hospital you didn’t want to overwork yourself before you went to work later that week.

                                        3 Days Later
Your ribs still hurt and you probably could have used more time off to rest and heal but you had to pay the rent somehow. Thankfully your bruises didn’t hurt anymore and you could walk normally without your ribs hurting. Disregarding your nurse friends’ worries and warnings you took some painkillers and started your shift.

                                 Meanwhile (a few hours later)
“I’m really going to kill you this time,” Shizuo announced picking up the nearest heavy object. Which was only a large garbage bin, but Shizuo didn’t care.

“Haven’t you done enough killing for one week?” With that Shizuo’s face immediately dropped and he set down the trash can.

“What?” Was all he could manage say.

“Didn’t somebody tell you? That girl you hit, she died. I think yesterday, from head injuries.”
Izaya simply smirked, satisfied with what he had done, as he watched Shizuo run away in the other direction.

“No, no. She can’t be dead.” Shizuo burst through the hospital doors and raced down one of the hallway; scanning each room number as he went by. Until he finally found the room you were in before. He cautiously opened the door and walked in. Shizuo feel to his knees upon seeing the unoccupied bed.

“I can’t believe it. I really screwed up this time. GOD DAMMIT!” Hearing the loud yell from a nearby room you ran to see what was wrong.

“Shizuo?” You were glad to see him, but wondered what he was doing. You thought, “Maybe he didn’t know I was released and came to visit me.”

“Y-you’re alive.” Shizuo looked as if 1000lbs had been lifted off of him.

“Yeah…why wouldn’t I be? I just got a few broken ribs, nothing serious,” you said a bit confused.

“Oh thank god. That asshole Izaya told me you were dead and I immediately rushed over here. Well, I can see your busy working, so I’ll leave you alone.” Shizuo started walking down the hall towards the entrance. You jogged to him and started walking with him.

“Actually my shift ends in a few minutes and I was thinking about going to Russia sushi for dinner. Do- do you want to come? I’ll pay,” you said with a light blush.

Shizuo was surprised at your sudden offer. “Uh, yeah, sure.”

“Great. You wait in the lobby and I’ll go get changed. I’ll just be a few minutes.”  You were so happy you couldn’t stop smiling while getting changed as quickly as you could; not wanting to keep Shizuo waiting. Once you were ready you and Shizuo made your way to Russia sushi.

                                       A Few Hours Later
Although it was a bit awkward at first, both you and Shizuo had a great time. It was an evening filled with laughter. You slowly warmed up to each other and you no longer felt awkward or nervous talking to him. In return though, you also felt yourself fall deeper into the pit of, what you thought would always be an, unrequited love. You also were finally able to introduce yourself. But to your great surprise he already knew who you were. Claiming he remembered your name somewhere from high school. After dinner Shizuo even walked you home.

“You really didn’t have to pay for me,” Shizuo said as the two of you walked out of Russia sushi.

“I wanted to. Think of it as a thank you for taking me to the hospital and coming to dinner with me.”

“To be honest I was surprised you asked me to go to dinner with you. I though you hated me.”

“What? No, of course not. It’d be silly to hate someone after one little mistake. Besides, I could never hate you, Shizuo.”

Shizuo suddenly stopped and crouched down in front of you. “Didn’t you say you broke a few ribs? They must hurt from all the walking you’ve been doing.” A bit stunned from his sudden kindness you climbed onto his back and loosely draped your arms around his neck while lightly resting your head on his shoulder; breathing in his scent. Both of you were glad it was too dark to see each other’s blushing faces.

“Is it really possible to fall for someone so quick and easily?” Shizuo thought as he walked along in silence. “Or have I been falling for her ever since high school? Did I fall a little deeper every time I saw her show up at one of mine and Izaya’s fights? Not only unafraid of my abnormal strength, but also with that bright smile of hers as she silently cheered me on. Even now, after I hurt her, she doesn’t resent me.” Shizuo stopped and you lifted your head to see why.

  “Shizuo? Is something wrong?”

“You know, you shouldn’t be so nice to a guy like me. I’ll get the wrong idea,” he said plainly, hanging his head.

  “And what would that be?”

“That I’m allowed love, specifically yours.”

  “What’s wrong with that?”

“I don’t deserve the right to love and be loved. I’ve hurt too many people.” By this time, you had slid off of Shizuo’s back and was standing in front of him.

“But, Shizuo, if you deny yourself of my love not only will you being hurting yourself, you’ll also be hurting me. Please Shizuo, I’ve liked you for so long. Don’t deny me of that right,” you said hugging Shizuo.

Shizuo wrapped his arms around you tightly; pulling you close. “Please, don’t leave me. I don’t want to hurt people anymore.” You felt something hit your head and looked up to that Shizuo was crying.

You leaned your head back on his torso and closed your eyes. “I won’t. I promise.” You don’t exactly know how long you and Shizuo stood there, but after that night, with your help, Shizuo ignored Izaya and never, even accidentally, hurt anyone again. Unless they threatened or tried to harm you of course.

That was kinda cute.
Izaya was mean. To tell him that I died... Pfff.
But in the end it was all happy.

I don't think that you made him to OoC, because he said that he is afraid to hurt his friends.
So i would say that you did a great job with this.

Keep on the good work.
