Description This picture was a bitch to do. The damn camera wanted to take pictures of the background and not the figures themselves. >:[

Anyways, I got Miku as a birthday present for myself and I just got the MLP Collector set from Toy R Us just yesterday through the mail. Sweetsong is the name of the pony in Miku's arms and according to her card, she loves singing alot and singing with others. So I thought, they really go together and that's how the picture is made.

I got two of them because one of them is a nightmare to change hands on but the other works great though.

My dad used his medical hemostat (A type of tweezer that doctors use to close blood vessels off) to get the borken part out of my figurine. He also said that needle nose pliers works too.

Nice shot nooks, to get a consistent shallow depth of field you need to get close or zoom in an use a wide aperture such as F2, F3.5 but stay away from the smaller F stops like F16 or F22 and so on. When you are trying to blur the background intentionally focus in on your foreground subject and then stop up to a wider F-stop and you will always blur what is behind. This is called a shallow depth of field, the opposite is also true, if you want a depth of field that is crystal clear and sharp from about 1/3 in front of your focal point and 2/3'rds to infinity behind the focal point the stop your lens down F16, F22, F32, F64 and so on. It is helpful if your camera has a depth of field preview switch or mode if digital. Take your camera off auto and try it. The degree of blur or sharpness depends on the stop used one you are in actual focus on your subject, this works by not only using the different parts of you lens from the flat center field to the extreme curve of the edges but also by letting more or less light in from the peripheries which will also add to the sharpening or blurring effect. Make your lens work for you.

I don't think my camera was on auto but my camera is old anyways and it did gave me a hard time to focus on it too. I really need a new camera with better lens on it and I wish someone buy me one for Christmas. So many F with numbers stuff to learn.

GlenLeo In reply to Nookslider [2011-11-13 04:30:54 +0000 UTC]

lol The F-stops are not hard to figure out; the smaller the number the larger the aperture will be and the larger the number the smaller it will be.
