Description Normalize making fanmade reference sheets for characters you draw a lot.

I don't own Severus Snape, though I would like to. Unfortunately, I did not write 'Harry Potter'.

So this is just a list of notes so that I can keep my fanart consistent, which will be especially helpful since I'm going to start incorporating illustrations into my fanfics on ao3.

I don't always draw book characters based on how they looked in the movie adaptation. Using this as an example, I don't draw Snape to look like Alan Rickman, because tbh Alan Rickman looked too healthy to resemble Snape. So I've started making reference sheets so I can keep my design headcanons in one place so my art of a given character stays consistent. Since Severus Snape is a prominent character in two of my fics, 'Therapeutic Nightmares' and 'Railroaded', specifically, I started with him. Next will be either Harry Potter or Lucius Malfoy. Depends on what kinda mood I'm in.

A few notes that I forgot or couldn't fit on to the page:

--Snape's robes flare just under his ribcage, not at his hips.
--Eyes are heavy-lidded, giving him a tired look.
--Snape is very tall, standing at the impressive height of 6' 6". This is offset by his incredibly thin build, however, which is not as impressive (And that's where the flared robes come in-they make him look bigger).
--Every character has a different highlight in their eyes that reflects their personality or backstory. Snape's highlight is a broken heart, tying in to his relationship with Lily.
--Eye shape should be modified slightly to convey different moods-when angry, his eyes become sharper and more diamond-shaped, but when relaxed or despondent, they become wider and more almond-shaped.
