Description
2nd installment - showing the variants (quadruped, tri-ped, bi-ped, and different weapon systems configurations). These are 3D Renders of Battle Mech Systems for a futuristic game (project status: on hold)
Since it is for a game, the model is low-poly and the texture is not high-res.
I used Photoshop to create the textures and modeled & rendered in 3DSMax.

I love that game! Also love Mechwarriors.
These are influenced by many popular Mechs.

how do you make 3-d art? Is is binary? C++, or do I get lucky and there's a program? I mean... that's freakin amazing! I want to be able to do something better than my 14 year old freind who started colledge when he was 11.

I use 3D Studio Max (3DSMax) to create the 3D models and Adobe Photoshop to create the textures as well as touch up the final render.
However, 3DSMax cost more than a thousand dollars for a legal copy. Maya and Bryce as well as Poser and DAZ are also popular software (they also are as expensive as Max). These are top of the line software that are used for videogame development, architecture, engineering, and animation, etc.
But there are many other programs (3D software) out there that are affordable (like Milkshape and Blender) and are almost as powerful as Maya and Max.

Milkshape (Shareware): [link]
I have to warn you though, there is a very steep learning curve to all 3D modeling and rendering software. Good luck & have fun.

I think I will just get my friend to "aquire" one of those programs for me. I have enough money but I don't feel like spending over 1000 dollars on only software. I think I could get some help from the same friend too. he is after all a 14 year old gamer i colledge. Plus if I baught one of those programs I would not use it for animating, only still pictures, which would only use about half the software im guessing.
