Description
Black and white coloured pencil on grey card, 3.5"x5".I was trying to make sketch cards (just want to have a try, I don't suppose anyone will buy it
Seriously, I'm pleased with the result of Frodo, Sam seems a little unlike Sean Astin.

Awesome job! You did wonderfully with the shading and facial expressions! Frodo looks exactly like Elijah Wood does in real life!

This is lovely and so emotional. Really like your choice of subject, it's such a sad moment.
Really like Frodo's nose for some reason.
I must also say that you do a great job of showing off great pencil artists at your page, both the journal and the favourites. Really enjoyed visiting your page.

you know... I would buy that! That is beautiful, and during a very touching part for the characters of Frodo and Sam. I cried... and this captures the tenderness of their friendship.
How much do you want for it?

Thank you very much dear! Sometimes I even cryied when I was just reading the novel.
Are you serious about buying it? You know, I'll feel strange to sell it to someone I know (even just met through the internet... ). Aww...you should've told me earlier, then I wouldn't put it on ebay... I didn't expect anyone to bid on it, then to my surprise there's one now...
If you're still interested, here's the ebay link: [link]
I still feel a little strange about it... that's why I didn't say about the auction on dA earlier...

That sounds great! But I cannot draw as good _NO WHERE NEAR AS GOOD_ as you, so it wouldn't really seem fair... but I will do it! I will put on the ol' muse and give it my best shot!
You got anything in mind?

That's okay, I can't see any unfairness! After all it's all about fun and communication with each other.
Maybe we can try doing some sketch cards then.
Tell me what do you like me to draw. (And you must know what I'll ask for )

I know I will be asked for something Lord of the Rings. I have to tell you, I am up for that. I love LOTR too and I haven't done a picture pertaining to that in a while. My last was a rather lowsy attempt of King Theoden...
I would love it, if you could draw Boromir! He is my Favorite.
this is going to be an awkward question but...um...what is a sketch card?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Norloth In reply to SexySickness [2008-05-08 05:55:07 +0000 UTC]
Good! I noticed that I haven't drawn Boromir so far, I'd like to draw him
Well, I'm not totally clear about it myself, I think sketch cards are pictures done on a 2.5"x3.5" paper/card/board/whatever, to trade within artists or art lovers.
Maybe we should call it Artist Trading Card according to Wiki : [link]

Holy @#$!! Beautiful--and on SKETCH card stock!! I will NEVER cease to be amazed by artists who can achieve such detail and quality on such TINY canvases!! Astonishing!! Not only does it look like these two actors (any variances in the likenesses are very minor), but you've totally capture the intense emotion of this moment from the film (I watched this again recently, and was blubbering again at this scene--your beautiful portrait takes me right back to that emotion!). Gorgeous work, made all the more impressive by its tiny scale!

Thank you very much!
You know, though the tiny canvase is not easy for details, it's much easier for catching the whole thing. I've just watched Return of the King again several days ago, there're so many scenes I want to draw!
I've already affected many people into Tolkien's world ever since I became a Ringer myself.

"though the tiny canvase is not easy for details, it's much easier for catching the whole thing."
Well--I think such a small scale makes ALL of it tough--capturing the feeling, the likenesses, the details--every time I try to draw emotion on a tiny face (AAACK!!! **tearing out hair**), I have greater and greater respect for the artists that specialize in sketch cards... Awesome work!
