Description
An idea that I finally decided to put on paper (and through Photoshop).After finding out that Sonic's official height is 3'3" that got me wondering how tall his rival Mario is.
After looking through Mario's details, I found that apparently there is an official or licensed life-sized statue of Mario measuring up to 5'1", which seems to have become accepted as Mario's height.
Then I thought, if that's the case, Mario would literally be towering over Sonic! But, he didn't in any of the official crossovers we have seen these two in!
So, I thought, maybe I should draw what I believe Mario and Sonic would look like if they really had those respective heights (trying to do the height calculations was a bit of a pain
).As you can see Sonic isn't too happy about this.
I kinda got the idea from an official Soul Calibur II picture of the tallest character (Astaroth) towering over the shortest character (Talim).
Oh, incase you're curious about my height, I'm 5'9" (176 cm).

I wouldn't say the humans are bizzarly tall, Mario just bizzarly short.

I usually think of the height differences from the Olympic Games they crossed over, did the Mario characters shrink, or did the Sonic characters grow? I even tried doing the height difference from the rendered images from the current designs. BTW, I'm 178 cm, or 5'10".

According to the SmashWiki it says that Sonic might be a few inches taller than Mario.

Sonic the movie got his size down right. If he's the height of a yardstick he wouldn't reach far beyond the average human desk, which seemed right watching it.
Of course, that's on planet Freedom, if we're talking about Mobius then I simply cannot care enough to help you imagining the proper height, funnelflaky. Sorry.
Interestingly enough, I always drew the two characters' game models being about the same height. With Mario being just a little bit taller. Weird.

To be honest, I don't really care about the other continuities. I'm referring to the official Sonic, not the ones/stuff from OVA or AOSTH, since they're not canon to the continuity.

That's what most people do when it comes to drawing them two, since thats how they normally appear alongside each other, anyway, but yeah it is pretty weird. Especially since most of Mario's information is shrouded in mystery...

Yeah, I was just kinda noticing the way the OVA was done since Sonic's creator had a hand in it. I think they kept the scale true from the games in there. That's all.

Interestingly, there's a height chart of Metal Sonic, Amy, Tails, Sonic, Knuckles and Robotnik in their classic forms and Sonic does measure up to 3'3" there, yet Sonic Generations didn't really take that into account... If it were Classic's height, that would be more plausible.

I always imagined Sonic as being shorter than Mario, I suppose for game reasons they kept them the same size.
But still- Mario is kind of a small guy.
