The girl sang on and on, completely oblivious to her surroundings, even as the carriage, at long last, came to a halt... even as two Imperial soldiers dragged her off and placed her into a line together with the others... even as the horse thief, eaten from within by the same fear that made her sing, made his final, desperate dash for freedom and then slumped face-down into the rimy mud, arrows sticking out of his back... even as the executioner flexed his shoulders and leered below his mask, his boot pushing at the first captive's back, and the first head rolled off into a bloodied crate... even as the Imperial captain, who had desperately been trying to make herself heard over all that singing, bawled out, 'Next - the Redguard!'

She sang even as she rested her head on the block, the executioner hovering over her...

I see skies of blue...
Clouds of white...
Bright blessed days...
Dark sacred nights...
And I think to myself...
What a wonderful world...

This is an illustration to one of my Skyrim fan fics, which describes how my Redguard Dragonborn Kiara is handling the Helgen execution. It appears that she is not handling it every well, swallowing tears and trying to sing to keep her mind off imminent death. (I hope the executioner’s reflection in her eyes is visible)

Be warned, though: it has Ondolemar in it. And I have a very… special approach to Ondolemar which may not sit well with the reader.
