Description
Ok, this was the first project we did in my design class. 17x24 paper, each square is 3x3 with a half inch between each cell. We were allowed to use a theme to tie the project together, I selected a star theme."Objective: to create several small compositions that deal with the elements of composition building such as direction, density, mark quality, value, repetition, variety, motion, balance; also to practice clean line strokes and perfection of mark as well as precision in execution of a given assignment."
we had a specific order we had to do with this project:
Row 1:
1. Uniform repetition of line
2. Space between lines reduced 3 times
3. Repetition of thick and thin lines at regular intervals.
4. White lines that show texture
5. Show tree-like composition
6. Minimum of three bundles of differently spaced thin lines.
Row 2:
7. 90 degree angle grid, vertical lines with narrowing intervals and regular spaced horizontal lines
8. 90 degree angle grid with lines more densely spaced in top left and becoming less dense at the bottom right.
9. 90 degree angle grid with variations in spacing between the lines.
10. Diagonal grid with alternating thick and thin lines plus widening spaces between lines.
11. Relate grid pattern to Mondrian
12. Design a unique plaid.
Row 3:
13. Repetitions of half circles, placed on vertical and/or horizontal axes, they may have different radii and cross each other.
14. Same as 13, but each half circle can be oriented in any direction.
15. Minimum of 3 sets of concentric circles.
16. Circles of various sizes forming white lines and black negative spaces.
17. Combine whole circles with curve segments to show progression.
18. thick and thin line segments combined with whole circles and/or curve segments symmetrically positioned.
Row 4:
19. Starting at the center, fill the square with a scribble pattern that goes from dense to sparse.
20. Pointillist markes fade from dark at the top to light at the bottom using decreasing density.
21. Crosshatch using drafting tools building layers of density in any direction.
22. Jackstraw marks change from dark to light from left to right using increasing density.
23. Develop a custom mark, use mark to develop curved motion in three places by varied density.
24. Create a design of shapes that create directional outward motion.

Dude. I'm taking the same class right now. Same assignment and everything XD

wow, your lucky, ours is so much more boring and the teacher babbled on for an hour and a half about what we were meant to do and in my opinion ended up contradicting herself

Lovely study with lines. Really. It's very pretty. I liked 16 the best.

Thank you, That was my first foray back into traditional styles of artwork after years. I found that class challenging but very good, it built up some good fundamentals for me.

Yeah they do... And I should do the same as you instead of just procrastinating
lol.
