Afternoon Edit: To everyone taking the time to comment on this piece; I really, really appreciate it! As an artist, hearing feedback of any kind of on my creations is the absolute best thing I could ask for and you all are just making my day! If I've not responded to your comment yet it's only because I've not gotten to it! If you've taken the time to write even the smallest thing then I will MAKE the time to respond! they seem so fricking simple but they're so damn effective! Please tell me what appz do u use to make an animated gif? I'd luv to do bits like this from time to time!

They do seem simple, but this particular image took me about 3 hours to compile, animate, and optimize. They're small pieces of art, but if you can manage to get though them the feeling of being able to say "I made this" makes it all worth while!

As for what tools I use, all I use is Photoshop and a mouse, nothing more :3

I used Photoshop CS5 to animate this particular image. Although there are many different ways I could have gone about doing this, I use a custom technique that makes use of a mix of layer masks, folders, and layers styles to give me the effects I need. Past that there is lots of custom tweaking to the timing and positioning of each frame that needs to be done as I don't like my animations to have that robotic repetitiveness to them. Sometimes the difference between having a frame be .03s or .04s long can drastically affect the overall feel of the piece.
